Hi, is stock ignition system on my 90 tsi good enough for 450awhp? Tuning will be done using AEM, tuner stressed that i can't have any problems with misfire during high boost pulls as it will put too much stress on my stock rods.

On my honda i always ran stock ignition with new OEM parts, are talons fine? I know little about their ignition systems since its a bit different then my honda since my dsm uses a coilpack.

What NGK plugs should i run for this power level on 94 octane, and what should i gap them at? If the OEM ignition system is FINE, which im hoping, because i hate MSD, are there any parts of it that need to be replaced for regular mainteance? IE the coil pack mainly? I know to do plugs/wires but what about the coilpack... Is it a item that commonly goes back and needs to be replaced (like the cap/rotor on honda distributors), or whats the deal? Just plugs/wires and hit the dyno, or should i replace the coil pack to be safe.

Thanks for the help in advance :D

I see they have OEM ones on extremepsi for about $150, i plan to order a fuel filter and a oil filter from them in the next bit, so if its a good idea to REPLACE the coil pack then it isn't a huge problem since they are inexpensive, don't want any problems on the dyno.

Thanks!

Lots of people have made over 600whp on stock 15-18 year old coils. I made 457whp on them myself, no misfires whatsoever. The real question is why do you want the expense and headache of AEM for a 450whp setup?

I made well into the 500's with 34psi of boost and a stock coil pack, msd wires, and BR8ES plugs.

Steve-
AEM is a great engine management for any power level. Some people like the added features of the software and the large tuning range is far superior than any piggyback. I know people have gone fast on dsmlink and other software, but when it comes to getting the best EMS, don't do things twice, go AEM. ITS AWESOME

Thanks for the advice, but there will be no headache with AEM, the car will be tuned by a AEM certified tuner with tons of experience and and a in house dyno, as far as the expense of the AEM, im not too worried about the cost. I would go straight to a 9 second setup but since i haven't even dealt with DSM's before, i figured i will start small and shoot for mid 11's this year, i plan to make 500+ on c16, but just 450 on pump, really looking to push the stock block :shhh: Mainly id like to thank my sponcers so far, mainly my father for financial help with the project, as well the the space, hoist, and equipment to do it :)

But thanks for the advice on the ignition system, really helps, and i will just re-use the stock coil pack, safe a few bucks too.

Thanks guys!!
