Hey, im tired driving a lowered car, you always need to be super careful and its just a hassle, i also would like to hit up a few rallycrosses. i want to know if anyone can point me to some springs for a 1g fwd turbo that have stiffer rates but stock height. also, what rates do you recommend seeing that my car is stripped completely? i dont mind vibration...
thanks!

I don't know of any stock-height stiffer springs for either 1Gs or 2Gs. So, if this is really what you want to do, you'll need to get something like a GC or DSS kit and specify stiffer springs (e.g., 350/350, since you have a 1G) and use the adjustable perches to set the car to stock height.

For real rallying, you want Larry to get involved in this thread. Here, let's try shouting: YO! LARRY! WAKE UP!

Are there any places to get springs made to your liking? i dont think coilovers are on my budget... i may just end up keeping stock sprongs with adj. shocks and rear sway bar, that might make up for stiffer springs.
while im at it, who makes the beefiest rear sway bar for 1g fwd?

You will pay much more for custom springs to fit your perches and hats than you will pay for an OTS coil-over system. Try to find someone who sells DMS rally stuff and see how far out-of-budget they are. The point here is that for rallying, you need some strong stuff, since a lot of lateral stress goes through the shock's shaft. You can't just get a Koni/GC set-up and expect it to finish a stage. Not with struts. Maybe with double wishbone, but not with struts.

Just get Eibach Pros and you will be happy...they barely lower the car but make a huge impact on handling.

I'm sorry, but that's a really silly suggestion.

ProKits do lower the car, plus the rear rates are the same as stock. If the guy who started this thread is thinking about running the car in a rally or rallycross, ProKits would be worse than stock, since he'd be all over his front bumpstops and not transferring weight at the rear end, so he'd end up going straight off the course into a tree.

Maybe you thought the suggestion was helpful, but it does not provide any solution to the issue that was actually raised. Plus, your post was written in a way that suggests that continuing to discuss ways to get this guy what he actually wants would not be useful, which I resent as someone who has taken some time to help someone who isn't asking if a certain 19" wheel looks good.

Um not so..... I installed prokits and illuminas last month. This is my second car with this combination and I can tell you that these springs are a perfect compromise for a street/strip/track car. I have get to take this car to a highspeed autocross but I have pushed it to its limits. This suspension combo is about as good as you are gonna get without getting ultra stiff springs and super low ride.

The prokits barely lowered my car but made a substancial improvement in handling. I have a very steep driveway so I didn't want to lower my car either. I was in the exact same spot this fella was in.

Take a look at my website.... www.jeffjeske.com/pictures.html Next year it will be filled with GSX picuters but for now those should at least let you know that I know what I am talking about.

thanks for the help, but even 1" is too much for me. i actually had the prokits on my awd, i just feel i needed stiffer springs.

Then it looks like coil overs are in your future.

You can look to your cars larger cousin, the 3000gt/stealth.

The 3000gt/Stealth struts are only 2mm longer on the front and around 5mm longer in the rear, yet they have the same interfacing points as the T/E/L.

Rates are as follows:
Front
T/E/L:
1.8 -all- 123 lb/in
2.0 -all- 134

3000gt/Stealth:
FWD -all- 162 lb/in
AWD -all- 212 lb/in

Rear
T/E/L:
1.8 -all- 112 lb/in
2.0 -all- 128 ib/in

3000gt/Stealth:
FWD -all- 190 lb/in
AWD -all- 157 lb/in

I'd find some complete 3000gt/stealth struts.

This would be an ideal solution but are you SURE the 3000GT springs will fit the DSM struts and upper mounts?
