This is the problem on my newly acquired daily driver 95 GSX. The gas gauge works. I fill up the tank and its pegged high at Full. Now once it gets just below the middle mark, it just stays there. A bit annoying, I've read about people whos gauges dont work at all, or are just stuck at E or F. Mine works but stops in the middle.

Right now I just fill up and go by the trip meter based on my investigation on how much my car can go with a full tank. Which btw a full tank got me 350 miles! Theres 5 miles to spare after that I'm sure, but I did not want to push it. This was mostly freeway driving. Bone stock 95 GSX with Magnecore wires and NGK bpr7es.

Oh I forgot to mention, the car came with white face reverse indiglo gauge face. Could this be a problem?

I think this is the problem I am having...not trying to hijack this thread, but I just got my gsx a bit ago, and my gas gauge works from pegged full to just barely above the half tank mark. When I get down to just above half the gas light comes on. I just used the trip and can see that yup I do need gas. The owner before me had installed a walbro 255 so could he have caused a problem with the sending units or something else there???

One of your two gas gauge sender units arm inside the tank is most likely bent.

Every 2G AWD I have ever seen or heard about has this problem..
Mine has it.. But mine never had the fuel tank opened, so maybe. Or. Maybe they just somehow get displaced over time?

My car has the same problem. The fuel gauge stays at the 1/4 mark and the fuel light comes on.I am going to bend the sender unit down a bit this weekend to see if it fixes the problem.

Not every car is the same to diagnosis, but on my 1g the ground wire on the fuel pump was loose. When i would refuel the fuel gauge would be around 3/4. Replaced the ground connection and magic...reads full.

I have this issue as well. Once upon a time, long long ago I came across a fix that involved wiring a variable resistor inline with the sender and tweaking it until the values were correct. However, getting old and senile I have lost the page that detailed this fix. If I recall correctly it was on the vfaq site, happy hunting.

Ive had this problem twice.. Make sure the pump and the arm make it all the way down without gettin stuck on the pipe the comes down from your gas lid. When i installed my 255 the arm was stuck and wouldnt go below a 1/4 tank. The sending arm was layin on the pipe

Well I took the pump out and checked the sender arm but everything was good . So I just put everything back together. Today finally the gauge read lower than 1/4 tank.:) I guess I fixed it some how.

Most likely thats what my cars problem was. You should try it too Redturbo eclipse it might fix it, but make sure you replace the rubber seal on the top of the tank.

more than likely an lectrical issue. i ahve seen this a few times. chack all your major connections. if you have someone watching your gauge while you wiggle are your connections and it jumps of falls.... that would give away where your problem area is
