stock bov chirp?

Alright i was thinking, if the bov makes a chirp or a swoosh sound im guessing it is releasing into the atmosphere?

Because if i shift hard under high rpms i hear a chirp coming from my stock 2g bov, or maybe its not actually releasing to the atmosphere and its justthe pressure of it shooting out of the throttle body. can someone explain this

the entire car is stock.

Its possible someone removed the dump tube in the intake. Possibly the owner before??

Not to be an ass, but did you even try looking under the hood before you asked this?

also not to be an ass, but the bov doesn't dump from the throttle body..

more importantly though.. i've never heard my 2G or 1G bov make any noise that i would describe in any manner as a "chirp".... if you hear a small "pssht" every now and then (like when shifting), that's normal, and that's the bov.. though it's hard to hear if you have the stock air box/filter in place... throw in a K&N FIPK and you'll hear it very clearly

exactly what happened with mine

you dont have to have it dump to the atmoshpere to have it make that noise...its just MUCH louder when you do

I think a chirp accurately describes the noise of my 1G BOV... Sometimes if I let off the pedal a little slow, then there will be a metallic shrieking/brushing sound.

but yeah, i dunno.. i've never heard a "chirp" from my 1G (..or 2G) bov....
all i've ever heard is ppsssshhhttttt

yea, during the winter time. My BOV sounds like a mini hks ssq BOV not trying to dumb it would go "keesh" but chirping I dunno. Then I cut the dump tube it went to a loud "pisht"

alright thanks thats what i figured. i thought the only way that it could chirp is if it was hitting the atmosphere. yes the dump tube is still inside the intake and i when i meant throttle body i was just assuming the sound was coming before the bov because the line to the bov is by the throt body.

Mine has chirped before and I dont dump to the atmosphere.

My 90 TSi chirped when recirculated. My 92 doesn't seem to chirp, but I've yet to hit above 15 PSI.

Try accelerating hard until you spool then around 3k or so just hop off the throttle quick, you should hear the bov fairly well...my '90 was pretty loud with a hacked aircan and k&n filter at stock boost ~10 psi
