Stitchweld chassis?

Anyone stitchweld a 2G chassis? Any ideas on how much more rigid it would make it?
I've seen a lot of cars coming from Japan tuning shops that are "stitchwelded" with literally hundreds of stainless steel rivets. SS rivets are pretty damn strong so I could see that doing a good job.
Then the question arises; what and where are good places to stitchweld or rivet to increase rigidity?
