Steering Column Mounted Boost Gauge [Merged 8-8] gauges pod mounts mount

I just thought I would share this since I haven't seen it before. I thought this was a good idea and would compliment the gauge bezel for a somewhat "out of sight" three gauge installation (two in the bezel and one in the column.) Here is the link and a pic.

...out of a little less expensive material?? I don't understand why all these companies charge so damn much for carbon fiber parts. I can understand $400ish for a hood, but all these little panels and stuff? DAMN! I get carbon fiber cloth for $32.50 for a 32"x 50" piece. I realize mold making costs and such, but $150 for that little thing, JUST because its CF? Give me a break!!! CF cloth doesn't cost that much more than FG to warrant these kind of prices....... Anybody that likes making their own pieces or that would like to give it a try, here is where I get all my supplies......CHEAP!........plus you can get carbon kevlar!!!

I like the idea of the pod, but I don't like the whole carbon fiber look on the interior. Anybody seen these made any where else and know where I can pick one up? thanks..

Unfortunately it seems that the site is down.

I agree that the price is outrageous and I would like to see this product made from ABS like a pillar pod. The reason I posted it is that I like the idea and I haven't seen any other manufacturer who has a product like this. Maybe Lotek should take a cue from this and extend their already comprehensive line of products to include this.

I keep my TT up there, I started making a FG mount that my tt can hide in, I think I'll spend a few hours on making a pod fit there this weekend.

No, that's for a 2G. Make one yourself, it's a LOT cheaper! That thing prolly cost about $20-30 to make

I spoke to Kenny the owner of Composite shop about the price and he is considering a discount for members or a group buy to reduce the price. I sent him an e-mail with a link to this thread so that he could see the potential for products he could make for our cars and hopefully he will take requests for a more extensive line.

to all of you guys who think 150 is steep, try working with the stuff it sucks. I made my own out of fiberglass but for my turbo timer, didnt like it sitting up there naked. I have been trying to figure out how in the hell to get the carbon fiber to mold to it nice with out haveing all of those expencive tools. its a lot harder than it seems. you have to have the peice free of all blemshes (read really really smooth hours of sanding and filling) then comes getting the carbon to lay up nice. the 2x2 3k carbon weeve that they are using looks great but of you look at it wrong the weeve gets pushed sideways and looks like crap. if you guys want a fiberglass mold of a turbo timer one let me know I think that an abs one would look much better not to mention be much lighter than the one I made.

my bad they use a 3k plain weeve in that peice, I didnt look at it close enough, most hoods are the 2x2 twill it looks nicer. the plain is a little bit easier to work with but not too much. the seam in the middle of that peice could have been done a little nicer as well

If he made one from the same mold but instead of carbon fiber, made it something simple and strong, I would buy it. I still wouldn't spend over 40-50 bucks for it but since it wouldn't be made out of 'Carbon Fiber' then it damn well better be a hell of a lot cheaper than $149.

I really dont like the hole pillar gauge thing. Might go with a center vent gauge setup, but would love to do a steering column gauge pod. Maybe 2 or 3 right there so I dont have to be looking all over my car for readings.

If one isnt already in production I will just make my own i guess
