ok so every time (well close to every time, sometimes it chooses not to) i start my car it makes this really weird, loud sound... it sounds like someone is hitting a peice of sheet metal with a hammer really fast or something... and paul at newlogics says that it was something with the drive train, and i was like ok and i left, (because i wasnt there to see what the problem was, i was there for my boost gauge..YAY),.. but after i started driving i realised... the clutch HAS to be disengaged when you start the engine, so unless its the flywheel, its not the drivetrain... i believe he said it was a bearing,... anyone know what the hell it is?

its only when i start up, and its much to loud to be lifter tick, sometimes it gets to be as loud as like,... thunder...

I have that SAME exact problem!!! OMG

I have no idea what it is and no one can tell me what it is. It is almost sounds like its the starter clicking or something in that nature, but i'm almost sure it itsn't the starter. It may sound like a clicking noise but its not the lifters that i know for SURE. Anyone for feedback on this would be awesome. Sorry to steal the topic for my problem as well.

does yours idle rough when it doesnt make the sound, or just from time to time?

Mine has the exact same problem...
And mine idle rough from time to time...

The sound keeps going with the engine as I rev it...
It is coming from the head I am pretty sure...
But once I drive it hard, sound goes away...

I dunno...

:notgood:

mine only makes the sound during start up, after its on it doesnt make the sound... its like this:
normal start up sound,
weird metal on metal clatter,
normal/sometimes rough idling of the car...

seems to drive fine, except today when it stalled cuz it was so hot im guessing the electrolyte that leaked out of my old capacitors warmed up and did something... cuz i heard a crackling again, even with week old capacitors...

yah same here its like a little metal scrapping sound. And it happens very seldomly. I haven't had any problems with idle. I guess it may only happen when it gets a little cold or something, i mean its random.

I am not sure if I totally understand what you are explaining but to me it sounds like it might a throw out bearing...do you have the stock clutch??

wow i feel stupid, why didnt i think of that, yes my clutch and flywheel are stock... damn what to throw out bearings run, 20-30... any harm in using an old one? how hard is it to replace?
