So the starter on my car seems to grind on the flywheel for some reason. I just put in a brand new starter, which did not help at all it starts after cranking a little bit. I did also fell around on the flywheel teeth and they seem like there fine. Ok so I have searched figured that maybe the shop that rebuilt the tranny in my car before I bought it might not have reinstalled the starter plate. So my questions is can you tell if it's been put in without taking the tranny out.

Are you sure you have the correct starter for your car????? If im not mistaken, AWD and FWD starters have different amounts of teeth on them.

Yes it's the same as the one that was originally in the car and that one worked for about 3 weeks and then it started grinding so then i swapped the starters out. I read in a post that without the starter plate that the bolts for the starter may loosen and the starter will not align right on the flywheel.
