Hey guys, I tried to install my turbo parts today but ran into several problems. One of which being the length of my exhaust studs not being compatible with my Star manifold. The stud directly under the turbo flange won't let the manifold sit flush against the head. Does everyone else run into this problem too? Should I just buy an extra-short stud?

Thanks!

Are you sure the stud it threaded into the block as far as it will go? I've heard of some people having a hard time getting the nut onto that stud, but never of the stud itself being too long.

My studs have like a long side and a short side. They aren't symmetrical. The studs are all the way in, but they are et up with the short sides threaded into the head with the long sides out to hold the manifold.

The manifold actually touches the stud, let alone trying to fit a nut over it. Are my studs backwards - should the long sides be in the head?

Having all of them installed correctly I had one that was too long for my dnp ss tubular manifold. The ss studs were same length on both sides. I threaded on a nut and then cut off just enough length to clear the nut with a dremel tool. NP. I did this with the manifold off and out of my way. i had threaded the nut on before I cut the excess length off and the took the nut all the way off to not gall up the threads. I also slightly rounded the tip of the end of the stud for ease of removal and installation. Works just fine. Installing a new turbo or manifold is a good time to put in a new set of suds. I preferred to put in the SS but stock would work just as well I suppose. I just have a thing for SS. I had a broken stud before the installation.

yeah if I couldn't find shorter studs I was just going to cut that one. thanks for your help
