I have an automatic gsx... my car stall's at 4grand right now. I was thinking about buying a custom stall converter so my car can lauch at 5grand. The only problem is, my car takes a decent amount of time to build boost from a stop because with my bigger cams i lost some bottom end torque. If i bump my stall converter up to 5grand, will i lose even more torque bottom end? and will it be harder to get my rpms up?

My main worry is, i dont want to get a higher stall converter, and then when i try to lauch, i dont have enough bottom end power to get my rmps up.

I think there may be a design problem with your Pro-Torque converter. If it lets you stall to 4000rpm and takes more than 5 to 7 seconds to do so then there is a problem. I have just put in a re-stalled torque converter from IPT, 4000rpm stall, and when I mash the gas, within 5 to 7 seconds I am at 4000rpm and 15psi.

If there is nothing wrong with your converter then maybe check your fuel settings for the lower rpms, if you can lean the A/F mix a little from 800rpm to 3500rpm you may be able to build boost a little faster.

it usto launch very quick. but ever since i put in my cams it takes a little more time... any way what im wondering is, i want to do a 5grand stall converter. What are the pros and cons of doing so.

IM sure a 5000rpm stall is possible. Pro's = more boost off the line, closer to the next shift point for 1st to 2nd gear. Con's = more heat generated in the trans, more stress on internal parts and axles. It might be worth investing in a 2nd ATF cooler to dissapate the added heat.

With the stall you have now you must get great launches. Have you gone to a track to see what your 60' time is? What does it run in the 1/4 mile? Have you dyno'ed the car? I was looking over your mod list but didn't see anything listed for timeslips yet?

june 5th im goin to the track... i wanted to get that harder launch for the track but i dunno we'll see.... My car is whoopin lots of ass the way it is now but, i have never been to the dyno yet, and im pretty much untuned. I have never been to the track so far but im shooting for a 13.2ish
