Okay, I've been working hard to fulfill the stage one upgrade path to get my DSM to 300 hp at the crank.

I've got everything now, except the upgraded fuel pump (and even upgraded the turbo to a big 16G). However, the car feels nowhere near 300 at crank. Either than, or I am no judge of power. So, my question is, can the fuel pump upgrade be that important that all the power I don't think I feel will come with the fuel pump?

What do you guys think? Those of you who have done the upgrade, do you feel like you're not making that much hp?

I'm almost afraid to waste the money on the dyno, because I think I am going to be disappointed.

Have you been doing all of the maintenance work on your car yet? Make sure to check your spark plugs/wires, check for boost leaks, rewire your fuel pump if you haven't already, make sure all of your sensors are working right, and check the compression on your car too. You say in your profile that you have a datalogger, how do your logs look? Also, how much boost are you running right now? Is your BOV vented or recirculated?

I have new plugs and wires. Haven't done a compression check or fuel pump rewire. I'm running 14 psi on the boost and recirculating the BOV. The logs look good as far as I can interpret them. No knock. Timing seems a little off (between 10-12). I don't know a lot about the fuel trims, but all are above 100%.

TSIfreak,

Could you explain a little more please?

I'm going to put a timing light on loan from Murray's and adjusted it to properly, but if it is being pulled, what are some reasons? I am getting zero knock according to my datalogger.

Well 0 knock is not always a good thing. On my 90 AWD stock with the 14b and boost set at 15 psi running premium fuel I was getting 3-5 counts of knock on a full rpm pull to 7k thew the gears. I have heard you want to see some knock because then you know you are hitting full ignition advance done by the computer and everything is doing its job.
Your timing maybe off also I agree so check that first. 0 knock is telling me you have your base timing set to low causing it not being able to knock at all not getting full ignition advance causing a loss in power.
I am no tuning guru yet by any means but this is what it sounds like you problem may be.
Also what are your injectors duty cycle at??

I also forgot to ad you NEED a fuel pump!!! Change your fuel filter while you are at it.
What is your engine vacume at when the engine is hot??

With a logger.

Yes, the fuel pump is VERY IMPORTANT. You won't be able to run nearly enough boost to support 300HP until you have one.

The fuel pump, boost gauge, exhaust, and MBC should be just about enough for 280HP (on a 14b). Those are the main parts of the puzzle... a logger REALLY helps to see what you're doing though, unless you want to trash your engine.

No.

The long term fuel trims are the ECU's own internal corrections to the air/fuel ratio based on the O2TRIM. Lo Mid and Hi are the different throttle positions and the long-term correction percentages of each. O2TRIM is the short-term correction based on oxygen sensor data.

"INJD" is your injector duty cycle.

"INJP" is your injector pulsewidth in milliseconds.
