So....I've got a 2G N/T and a buddy with a Factory SR20Dett turbo, I'm looking to drop it in by the end of summer. I'm just wondering what it'll take to get it on without blowing my motor. I know I can handle 8 psi stock with some ignition and fuel work. I plan on dropping $20K into a full build with 8.6:1 comp., .20 over, etc.etc. I also know that the Dett turbo comes stock 15-20 psi wastegate spring. I'll be happy with that in the end. not looking for a lotus beater. just a mustang muncher. My main issue is Air intake on the turbo, instead of being a regular 2"- 4" inlet flange there are 2 tiny bolt holes. I've got all kinds of acess to fabrication, but I'd like to do as little as possible. So any kind of info on the subject would be swell. If you think I'm a moron for the choice of parts, let me know. I appreciate any and all feeback. Thanks

You will not need 20k to build a motor and boost it. To be honest if you want to run moderate boost and keep her under 250whp you don't even need to build the motor if it's in good condition. If you do have that kinda money to blow though then my advice would be a 2.2 stroker with low compression pistons H beam rods, built head, exhaust bigger injectors and walbro 255 dual in tank, and MSnS. That still wouldn't put you 20k deep and you would have a car that would be faster than 3/4th gsx owners :sneaky:

By the way with 20k to blow forget that crappy nissan tubro and look into borg holset or Gt series turbos.

dude with 20k to drop in the motor you should be looking at what DSM ZERO is doing!:thumb: if your goal is to be different then the sr turbo would be neet, but if power is your goal i would def. drop that idea intierly and go with either a super 20g or a 30r! maybe even a 35r, but like i said its all about your goals!

I appreciate the advice. I'm looking for different but fast as well. that's why I was gonna just drop a free turbo in. and I forgot to mention 20k is for EVERYTHING. Including interior and exterior styling aswell. My engine is in fair condition. The only problem I am having is a weird "wub wub wub" at idle only. I've replaced everything but the EGR system and the head. so it's gotta be one of the two. Back to topic. I was always under the assumption that once you stroke, you make a turbo choke. But I am still a somewhat newbie in the realm of 420A though. I have mostly Honda exp. and yes it's a t25doh or something along those lines. I haven't looked in a while. So.....whadda y'all think? am I :beatentodeath:

Take that turbo and chuck it as far as possible it's a POS and not gonna make 400whp on any 420a no matter how much money you throw at it. Look into holset and borg turbo's if you want to be different. I don't have even close to 20k yet and I have A descent amount of shit so far and I started with a bone stock car.

If you throw 15k into the motor, tranny and other support then you could easily have a 400+ can then 5k for style. I am not sure how you want to divide it but that number is easily in reach, and 500+ is possible as well. Good Luck and post some pictures of the monster afterwards.

If you have $20k to spend why not invest in an AWD platform to play with and leave the 420a as a DD? But you definately don't need to spend $20k to have a well rounded car.. I've done a couple things to my GST and I'm already losing traction.. I'm regretting spending money on it due to it being a FWD (however I know a quaiffe would help my issues with that). I wish I would have used my GST as a DD until I picked up my GSX and saved the money I spent to use on the GSX. Just picked up a 90 GSX in NC.. and a 97 GSX over here in Germany, and now I have no money to spend again! AWD is definately nice if you're going to invest a lot of money, especially if you're shooting for over 400 whp.. However this is just an opinion so don't try and kill me for anything I said. :) Good luck with your decision!

Good for a budget build but not for a all out setup.

As to the awd being a better investment I guess but each platform has it's advatages and purposes. I owned a 90 tsi and now own a 2g NT fwd so I went from one extreme to the other. My NT parts are a lot c heaper giving me the ability to do more to my car but my awd had more potential. FWD and traction problems are overrated though. With a little research and investing you can pull 1.6 60fts in a fwd car and def 1.8's which is respectable and then you have better top end than awd due to less drive train loss so in some cases if you mod right it can be better. If you live in an area where people do a lot of highway runs than your even better off with a fwd. Just food for thought.

I've already got an 1g awd as my DD...for now... I like the money ratio cause I can do interior and exterior for cheaper than 5K. I'll be sure to post pics asap. thanks alot for all your help guys. There isn't much of a DSM scene here at all in Ft. Waste, IN. Mainly JDM honda...thus my EXP. oh yeah I'll be posting another thread regarding the "wub wub" to help with answers. Thanks again.:thumb:

How do you have experience and fabrication access if you planned to run the t-25 for 400whp?:confused: T-tiny5's are not what you want for that. You planned a $20k build with a t-25 in mind?

I'm confused as to the purpose of this thread. Are you just making a bulletin of your plans or did you need advice on something? Build thread? You requested advice on the parts but you didn't list very many. I see no brand or manufacturer names either so I don't think we can really tell you what to do there, not to mention there's countless build and 420a-t threads to provide you with that information.

I'm still confused. What are we talking or helping with here? What was or is the purpose of this thread???

I'm sorry but for 20k you can buy just about any 2g awd out there, hell I've seen some 500hp and above go for 8-15k, If I were you I'd sell your n/t and buy just about any gsx or gst with 500hp and spend another 5k into exterior and interior mods, hell your better off getting a gt42r and be done with it.

ok I forgot that I should have mentioned that by time I'm done dropping 20k I'll have a competely different setup. Again the only reason I'm dropping that in is It's Free. as for fabication. I've got a buddy that does it. and as for dropping the money in a awd....I ALREADY HAVE ONE... you should read the thread about telling people to get rid of the 420A. 'Tis a much more noble task to make a 420A into a beast than a 4g63. I really just wanted to know if the t25 would work and after seeing slippi's setup It basically answered my questions. thanks for all the advice
