Yea its about usually 20º here in iowa. And i normally always let my 95 TSI warm up before i start driving it. But since its so cold, whenever im sittin in the car for like 3 or 4 minutes after its been sittin for 4 hours or so out in the cold, if i put it in drive and start to drive it it makes this aweful sounding squeling noise. I have no idea what it is and it never happens in spring or summer. After driving for abotu 5 min or so and the engine gets warmed up it stops. This anything I should worry about or is it just like cold belts gettin warmer or something? Thanks.

The cold does really weird things to cars. There is no moisture in the air anymore and they dry out/get harder/freeze. Check the alternator belt/pully and other accessory drive belts like power steering and such. I know a guy whoes belts squeal all the way through 2nd gear. good luck man :thumb:

First thing I would check would also be the harmonic dampener. If this is your problem you want to catch it before it becomes a major problem. Mine was separated and it broke off my a/c belt and pushed it underneath my timing belt. Needless to say it bent 8 valves and caused me to have to do alot more work than if I would have fixed it sooner.

Does it sound like a belt or is it sound like something else, does it very with the rpm's or is it just constant. My car used to whine in the winter when I lived in iowa, when I started it and I found out it was the turbo. Had to cut back to 5w 30 oil because the 10w 30 wasn't getting to the turbo fast enough and it was squealing. Sounded kinda like the blades were just grazing the housing. Do you have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge or not?

had exact same problem hard too get rid of.... i just sprayed some belt degresser and it went away.... so yea it common problem.
