Spyder Spyder rear quarter panel window

Hey guys has anyone changed the window on the rear quarter panel on the 2G Spyder? I know how it goes back on the window guides but the little black ball that snaps into the rod will not snap in does anyone have a trick to this? I have been all over the Internet YouTube everything no one has a video on this thing. Help me guys this car is very frustrating it's just one thing after another

If the little black ball will not snap back into the socket, one of two things is happening:

1. The socket is broken and will not keep the ball connected when released.
OR
2. There's not enough pressure to get the ball into the socket. You still have to be careful with pressure on the glass, but squeezing with your hands is the safest option -- NO TOOLS! Be sure there is a little grease on the ball and in the socket to help it slide.

If the socket is broken, you may be able to find one with the parts people here.

Well we think the little rod with the socket is worn out so where can I find that? There's one spider at our salvage here I've been picking parts off of it like every other week and does anybody know how that socket comes off? Thanks for your help I appreciate it

It would be surprising if the ball portion is worn because IIRC, the ball is metal and the socket is nylon. If you have a Spyder and the local P&P, by all means, grab those parts. No one else would thing to reuse them.

And you can experiment with techniques on the boneyard window first as to smoothly remove the ball and socket assembly/elbow and putting it back on.
