I'm starting my awd swap this weekend. Every build journal I've read through, and other posts I've read all have the same info when it comes to the X-brace in back. Everyone cuts the brace to access that last subframe bolt. Got it. Now, I have read that there's another way to reach this bolt without cutting the brace. Does anyone have a source for this claim? I don't want to cut the brace if I can get around it. I have looked at the location on my own car, and I know it doesn't look promising, but I still want the info if it's out there floating in cyberspace. Also, how have you all who have done this conversion fixed the cut brace? Re-weld it together? Would like to see pictures.

I ended up finding what I needed. There is one person that managed to not cut the brace. I tried, but didn't have anything to help bend the brace out of the way, so I cut it like everyone else.

There is another way. i did not want to cut the brace, so i went from the outside. I do have some pics if needed.
I am going to reuse the FWD subframe bolts for the rear.
I was thinking of drilling a hole from where the bolt comes out in the wheel weld and putting in a pin to stop the rotation. others have told me to tack weld it.

Just waiting for my welder to come in to take a look at how to get in.. if he can tack weld it then i;m golden. if not i have to go the pin route. hope this helps.
