Ok, here it is short and sweet. Traveling down 95 going about 80 or so. I sped up to around this car, but my car would not pull pass 4 grand. Then when I let off and started to head towards my exit, that's when I felt the sputtering. Now, every time I start it, it takes for ever to turn over. On top of that, I just installed a mechanical boost gauge and it seems to lose vacuum on idle. No leaks I already checked, it's those hard vac lines so I know that don't leak and they are not kinked. And one more thing, when I try to accelerate with boost (because i'm driving it gingerly right now trying to keep it out of boost) I get back fire (which is that distinct pop sound from the exhaust). My assumptions right now are the plug, plug wires, or coil pack. I'm going to advanced auto to buy some new plugs and see if that fixes the problem. Please give me insight. Thanks...

Oh and just so that you know, maybe it will have an effect, but the owner before me did a boost hose reroute where the wastegate is actully attached to the vac fitting on the compressor housing. And when the car was running good, it was seeing about 18lbs of boost and spiked higher before. I'm not sure if it's a T25, but if it is, that thing is going to die soon. I know I need an MBC, so I beat you to it!

Thanks,

KJ

If it's a T25, it's prol dead already. Remove the intake and check for excessive shaftplay / wheel damage.

Is the wastegate adjustable? As running a line directly from a boost source without an MBC should not net you 18psi.

May also want to ensure all hoses post turbo are airtight (boost leak test) as well as all intake hoses/clamps are secure :dsm:

I understand where you are coming from, it just spiked that high. It's a descent boost gauge that was given to me by my friend. So I know my eyes were not playing tricks. But I did realize that I was getting a low vacuum reading. Has anyone had this, let me start a new thread so I know if I have to take it to a mechanic or I can do it myself.
