I was offered the SPortCompactPro sponsorship.... which ends up being a discount buyers club... supposedly with free shipping, but i've found that is NOT the case, and the deals aren't that great for us DSM-ers... I need to get some info on obtaining sponsorships. I'm In Indiana PA, so I'm gonna start bugging SLowboy to sponsor me, but other than that I don't know what I should do. Any suggestions? Or does anyone on here want to offer me a sponsorship? That'd be great! LOL And i can't apply for the dsmtuners one coz I didn't race last year.

I don't see how this fits into this forum and I don't think "bugging" a company will get them to sponsor you.

You can't get sponsorships by posting on forums and asking for free stuff. You have to have a serious car that attends a lot of shows and/or races 1st off. And secondly, you have to submit a professional proposal. Nobody will build your car for you unless you have a honda. You have to take it so far and when you start getting major attention, it may or may not pay off.

Sport Compact Pro is a joke.

I was accepted and I've had my application sitting at my house for about 3 months now. I havent even opened it yet and I dont plan to. I though it would be cool, so I signed up, then I learned more about them, and now I know that they are running a legit scam. 95% of people sponsered by them are not happy, but they arent doing anything illegal, so.....

The best info so far is this.

1. Have a clear plan for your car.
2. Be able to express that plan to someone else.
3. Make sure you have something to offer them.
4. Make sure that what you have to offer is going to benefit them as much as it will benefit you.

Don't expect to approach a vendor and say "I've dragraced a few times, but I will run your sponsor decals if you give me a 10 second setup." They'll laugh and show you the door. I ended up with very minor discontinued parts in mine, yet I didn't have a ton to offer at the time being. As time progresses though I may have more to offer in the way of exposure for my sponsor and I may be eligible for more parts from them in that case. Realize that they are spending money on you mainly for advertising, they know that if they put an ad in a magazine thousands of people will see it, if you put their decals on your car you need to show them how your rolling ad will work as well if not better for them than their print ad.

Lol they called me yesterday and offered me a $12,000 sponsership  Then I'm thinking... You guys have never even seen my car, you're really not telling ANYTHING except that you want my $80 bullshit fee, and I'm not hearing any good deals for me except for a tax write off. What a joke.

i'm not a complete burnout, i do realize posting on dsmtuners wont provide me with a sponsorship, was just kinda thrown in there as a joke, i was looking for info on properly getting a sponsorship, how to apply, best places to appply, yadda yadda yadd. Thanks to those who offered actual input on these things. I've wondered if SBR does sponsorships, was hoping someone had some info on if they do or not. If anyone knows, please tell me... if not i'll probably just end up finding out this week anyways. So if anyone else has any solid input... best shops to apply.... those such things, thanks in advance.
Oh, and sorry about posting in this forum, i guess it shoulda went in general, but i was browsing this one when i thought ab
