What model # are you using and are you happy with it and what turbo are you using? Thanks, Mark

I'm asking the question because I am running a speaco 2-221. It is 18.5"x6"x3.5" and is rated at 1080CFM @ 1.5 psi drop and willsupport 760HP according to turbonetis. I called them and got chewed out for asking about my IC's efficiency because I have difficulty running as lean an a/f as I would like. It seems I need to stay richer than an 11:1 a/f in order not to knock. I thought perhapd the IC was not cooling the charge enough but was told if it will support 760HP and of course I do not make that HP then it is good enough!! I am going to look into some thermo couplers to measure inlet and outlet temps. Thanks and would like to hear more. mark

I have a Spearco 2-216 core on an 18G. It's OK, but I'm still getting a tiny bit of knock in the upper RPMs. I'm running about 21 PSI right now. I may be able to tune the knock out, but I haven't tried real hard yet. It's only a few counts anyway. I also haven't logged airflow yet either, so I can't comment about that yet. I was hitting right around 30 lbs/min on the stock SMIC, so I'm curious to see how much that went up. Hopefully this week sometime I'll be able to do some logging runs-- the car's been in the shop getting a new transmission for the last week.

Usually the whole "will support ___ horsepower" figure comes from how well the core flows. 1080cfm is quite a bit of airflow, so the fact that they say it supports 760hp makes sense. I don't think the 760hp figure comes from how well the core cools, so I don't know why they bitched you out for that.

If you think about it, 21 psi on pump gas with just a tiny bit of knock is pretty damn good for an air/air cooler. If you want to run more boost on pump gas with little to no knock, I'd suggest a water/alky injection kit. You won't have to worry about insufficient cooling then :D

i have on on my turbo Honda it is over kill for the car right now (only 7psi) the size is 30x10x3 and i love the thing and it even does not get to many fins bent at all due to the bar and plate. the only down side is the ic weights alot. :dsm:
