2G SPC adjustable balljoints 67170

I have a set of the SPC adjustable balljoints 67170, and I am having issues installing them onto my Upper control arm.
I removed the stock balljoint. I am supposed to be able to put the top plate on but there is a lip that the stock balljoint sits on, and the spc top plate I believe is supposed to go over it, but it wont. I have grinded the lip down some and it still will not fit over it, I am worried if I keep grinding at the lip it will be too weak.

Anyone chime in with what I am doing wrong >.<

I cant tell but it looks like spc joints press in from the opposite direction? Just press the plate by itself first?

Please tell me you didnt grind out the opening.

I grinded around the lip, with a hand file.

I talked with SPC, they said after seeing the pictures they believe that the arms are not Stock, and must be replacement from parts store. They said since it is not OEM arm the diameter does not have to be exact and thus the top plate will not fit. They do not recommend grinding it to make it fit.

So, if you have non OEM upper control arms these SPC adjustable balljoints Part number 67170 will not fit.

Even aftermarket those look all bent up. What happened?

Oh. I hit a pot hole bent my rim to pieces too .
