Just today after i checked my spark plugs
i noticed that #'s 2 and 4 were wet with oil,
just woundering what the problem could be,
piston rings, gasket, valve stems???? (95 eclipse 420a)

Any input would be greatly appreciated...

Most definately sounds like a blown head gasket to me. If it were the rings you would be getting blowby, low compression, and your oil dip-stick would be coming out of the whole after a hard-run.

I've had my HG done recently, the plugs were doused in oil. It also depends on "how much" oil there is on them. Do you mean they are wet to the touch and flowing in oil? Or simply black from dirt? Because your spark plugs WILL get dark from the combustion process, but if they are actually wet that you can take the oil off with a cloth, then its more than likely a head-gasket issue.

No i mean these things dripped oil, when i pulled them out.

I'll probably change the head gasket soon and see how it goes
from there, hopefully that'll fix it.

blown valve cover gasket will do that to though FYI... happened to a friend of mine we pulled the plugs and were shocked, but the half moon gaskets were like crumbly as hell

It could also be that your oil cap is leaking, if it's the tops that are mostly soaked on your spark plugs, recently replaced mine, and now my disapearing oil is fixed ;) :thumb:

I checked my plugs the other day and they were also wet with oil but my car is starting to smoke a little. is it the VC gasket??

i've been checking my plugs for the last couple days and
they're not wet with oil no more, however i do find oil on the
top threads of the plug not the electrode gap do, so i think
its my valve cover gasket, would you guys agree??

I have the same problem as you did before. My #3 was soaked in oil up past the thread and #4 just had a little on the thread. I'm buying a Valve Cover Gasket Kit as soon as I get some money together...pretty sure that should fix the problem.

if your compression checks out, then I'd say that it's those little o-rings that go inbetween the spark plug wells and the valve cover. When they leak, they allow fuel into the sparkplug well.

well i have a new gasket already, its just a
matter of installing it, i haven't had much time
cause of my job.....(working 7 days a week).....
but hoping that i'll get it replace during memorial day
weekend....

I Have A 92 Tsi And I Ve Been Having The Same Problem. I Changed My Vc Gasket And Wouldnt Ya Know It I Still Have Oil In The Plugs. Are You Sure Yours Is Leaking From The Top Where The Little O Rings Are Or Are They Leaking From Underneath Where The Threads Of The Plug Are? Hopefully That Fixes Your Problems Because I Fear Mine Are Only Beghinning.
