I'm posting this here because this is a turbo build. I have just a few questions:
1. I'll be breaking in some cams soon and I'm wondering if, because we don't have flat tappet cams, if the break in process is the same.
2. Can this be done at the same time as breaking in the block or should I break the block in first on an stock head then the new built head?
3. How necessary is an inline oil filter for break in on a turbo engine?
4. Last I checked the MSQ download page, there weren't any base tunes for a 420a on 8psi of boost. Any one have one or know someone who does?
5. Any one have any links for a carbon fiber front and rear bumper? I know "they" make doors, hoods, hatches, and fenders. I know it can be custom made, but I'm hasty and I want the ease of convenience.
6. Which is better: Coke or Pepsi?

Thanks all!

I wouldn't bother with one unless your turbo has a ball-bearing CHRA.

The MSQ file doesn't set your boost, your wastegate does. Just look for a file from a turbocharged car to get started.

Coke.

Coke.

It does have a dual ball-bearing CHRA...so yes? I read that I should check it constantly for debris build-up during the first 3-5 oil changes so the build-up won't starve my turbo.
I know the file doesn't set my boost and that my wastegate does, but I can't find any files for a boosted car with injectors of my size.... I'm installing MSII for my current setup, too and I don't want to blow up my DD block before getting my other one back...

Then yes, you'll want to frequently check and clean the filter.

Even the injector size doesn't matter too much. You just want a file for a turbocharged car with the same engine as you (i.e. DOHC DSM-type head, not Neon). You'll simply calculate a new REQ_FUEL value inside the MSQ for your injectors, and then it globally applies the changes. This is one reason why Megasquirt's system of percentages is a better choice than absolute pulsewidths in milliseconds.

Thanks alot Paul. I followed that guide when I did all brand new gaskets and ARP Head bolts for my turbo build. The only thing is I think I will break in the head on my current block, then do the built block on the boroken in components. It sounds theoretically correct...in a "just in case" sense. I just don't want to have spent as much money as I have and be left up Poopie creek without a paddle when I go to start it up. I don't have any sponsorship or big tuner haus to back me or do the work for me outside of someone else running the dyno and the mandatory work done to bleuprint the block. I'm doing all the work myself and paying for it all myself, so I'm trying to utilize as much of this website and 2Gnt as I can. Oh my goodness what I've learned since just my 'sleeved stroker' build thread....wow things get complicated......Thanks again for all the info Paul! If anyone else would like to chime in, don't be shy. Words of encouragement are also greatly appreciated, since most of what I've been hearing lately is 'you care more about that damned car than you do your famly!'

Really the only things that needs to be "broken in" on a fresh motor is the rings, as they have to take the shape of cylinder. All contact points on the cams should have an oil barrier, and the rockers are roller-tipped. Just install them and run them.

That's what I thought from what I have learned so far, but no one could definitively say yes or no. Thanks Locke. Well then....it looks as though my job just got a wee bit easier. Thanks again for the tips.
