Why not buy used suspension for around $300 and install it yourself? You can even buy used coilovers for around $500-600 and still save $400+ from what that shop quoted you at. That way you don't have to worry about compressing the springs either.

That estimate is just rediculous and I wouldn't trust bringing your car there if they're just looking to rip people off. They quoted you at $300 for one hour of labor, I think they're out of their minds! WTF

You dont have "headers" or a 3 1/2'' exhaust. You dont even have A "header".
how the hell you gana tell me that i dont have this when i have had countless people tell me that i do. and two the exhaust is custome, it isent some store bought. the exhaust was done by ATX the shop where i bought the car.

like i said im going to end up buying them and gana take it to my friend in SI:NY. and i would never get coilovers, my friend has them on his 240sx and said it was the worst thing ever.... i took a ride in it and its like there is no suspension on the car.

Yes, coilovers are the worst thing ever...

IS this the same friend that told you you had header(s)? If so, it's likely he doesn't mind the ride in his poorly setup car since his helmet cushions the head-roof contact. ;)

A pic under the car will settle the debate on the exhaust.

Same shop that's so awesome they charge 3x the standard labor rate?

i have a video some post above that shows the exhaust, it was done with a 3.1 mega pixie camera so idk if it is the best.

also before i bought the car it was the owners project car that he would work on time to time. i bought the car with the headers and exhaust in it already.

yea i know, find it kinda stupid.... anyway coming from work i took another pic! and no there is no gap between my lights and the bumper, just looks like that

This statement is slightly ridiculous.
By turbo Dsm i guess you mean 4g63 in general. As primarily the 4G63 is always turbo (GST/GSX, TSI/TSIAWD, Laser RST/RSTAWD) But the 1G's did have non turbo 4g63 (not 4g63T).

My guess... he had a 1G 4g63 engine swap and custom exhaust.
Why in the world would somebody do this? Maybe thier turbo died and fabbing up a custom exhaust was easier and cheaper. Who knows, who cares.

^^^ I actually understood 0% of that.

OP: The word of the day is "manifold". I also spy a large neck-down on that rear section of pipe.

What else do I have to go by? This is in print, in front of me, and I find it insanely high for a non-specialized service you can do with hand tools and a jack.

Dude, nice looking car.
A little rusty but it is the east coast. ;)
And idk if you've made research, but the turbo 4g63 engine does not have "headers" its an exhaust manifold. That shop is just retarted, just by looking at how much they will charge you to install struts and springs. And the exhaust is more than likely a 3" "custom" exhaust, why would they "custom" make a 3.5" exhaust on a bone stock engine??
Nobody hear is trying to be a dick, just trying to help you out.

ok since the website took a shit on few like 12 hours ago this was the post i wanted to make. for the exhaust im to lazy to measure the inside of it because i have no idea the thickness of the tubing he used, frankly he said its 3.5" idk really if its 3". all i know is that it sounds nice and deep and that what i like. also with the rust its just surface (i hope)

oh god LOL im srry its a new manifold haha not headers. LOL. they were opened up a lil. just in my eyes i see headers and manifolds almost the same. (dont bash me its just how i see them) i know manifold and made of cast iron and all the surface rust on it

its the stock engine in the car just rebuilt engine and trans 35k miles ago. as for the custome exhaust again when i bought the car it was on, i dident do it.

also i bought this car of December of 2009, when i bought it was sitting outside for 6 months so thats why it looks rusted in alot of pics, its just surface rust and i gata clean it one day.

I wouldn't judge them by this one invoice. They are an awesome shop and are great guys. I get all my work done there and never had any complaints.
if you go there are then you had to have know Anthony C. Hand LOL. he is a good friend of mine. his 99 GSX had tranny problems and always took it there. ended up selling it for a 05 350Z and bought a 240sx project car. he is now selling the 350Z, in the past 5 years i think he has bought and sold more then 10 cars LOL

Hmmm. I know an Anthony who had a 95 gsx with a 2gb conversion like ours and sold it now he has a 350z but don't think it is the same guy.

That has nothing to do with the fact that its a manifold and not a header...

they both do the same thing. only thing is headers directs air flow differently and are louder. manifolds dont have as many openings and are tighter. they both the same job down the road. its just what you prefer.

no it is, he had a 97 or 99 GSX with a bad tranny so he sold it. he spent so much fixing the tranny LOL. ended up selling it for 7.5k

i believe what they are trying to say is that you have a manifold. it may be aftermarket, it may be stock but it is a turbo exhaust manifold. turbo cars do not run "headers" they may have log style or equal lenght etc. but they are always a manifold
