Ok.. so i got the talon started last night, but the cooling fans don't seem to be kicking on, i measured the temp of the coolant with a temp gun and it was at around 190-200 at the thermostat, a few degrees cooler at the top of the radiator, and the driver side of the radiator was only at 40, what temp is it supposed to be at? ### i can hear it boiling when i shut the car off...

Also all my cylinders except for the number one cylinder are putting out 521 degrees fahrenheit at the exhaust manifold, but number one is only putting out 324 degrees.. just thought this was odd.. not sure whats going on.. :/

what are you using to measure the individual cylinders? An IR thermometer on the runners isn't the most accurate thing in the world.

Have you compression tested the motor since you've ran it? Just to make sure there are no leaks. That's the first thing I do after running the engine for 20 minutes on a new rebuild.

It sounds like part of your radiator is clogged or has air in it. There shouldn't be a huge difference in temperature between the two sides of the radiator.

If the head gasket is leaking, it could be pushing air into the cooling system, which could cause boiling. If the leak is on the #1 cylinder it might run a bit cooler.

Unfortunately I'm not sure when the fans are supposed to come on, as I just have a switch :coy:

Thanks, i actual read your thread looking for an answer to my fans..
and the runners seem pretty accurate.. it's right off the head, #4 runs ~519 F, #3 &#2 run 521 F, and #1 runs 324 F.

I have no exterior leaks i can see, and i think i may have a bubble in the radiator, it burped once but i think needs more coolant..

Back to the fans, do you happen to know if there is a connector in the back area near the firewall by the battery that is part of the cooling system? its the same harness that has the power for the starter and the main engine ground. it looks like it's a two prong and the plastic inside it is pink..

also haven't done my 20 min break in just tuned the timing to 5 Btdc
