First thanks for reading. All help is welcomed. I have a 92 TSi (fwd, 5sp) and I have been failing emissions. I notice that if I let the car idle....it begins to accumulate smoke. It is white in color and does not smell like oil. I do have a bit of jerking, not so much that you would notice unless you were familiar with how the cars should perform. The oil pressure is below the first mark when the car is in idle.....but once yu rev it up above idle it comes back to about mid range. I am very skeptical about taking it a shop after having spent $1900.00 dollars to have this problem fixed by one, just to have it come back. I am looking for any advice or people who can email/walk me through some troubleshooting.

If you have [email protected] is my email. Feel free to send me a line or reply here. Thanks :dsm:

Try giving the Wisemen on here a writeup on your problem. They are all pretty good with these things.

Try going to the mechanic that fixed it last time and ask him exactly what he did and what the problem really was. Or atleast what he thought it was.

Bump. Need help

we know you need help, but never bump a thread, its against thwe rules. It would be a shame if this got locked and you ended up with no answers at all. I would take it back to the shop that "fixed it" and tell them it is doing it again and that they really need to fix it this time.

I would also check to see if you are losing coolant.

Yikes :shhh: Didnt know bumping gets ya in the hurt locker. New to this forum and I apologize for it. The writer in the post up ahead redirected me to a couple of really really good threads. I am curious about redoing the seals in my head without having to take the head off....and if anyone can tell me what tool is used for that or even better yet....a written reference on how to do this...that would rock. Have never taken on somethng like that on an engine.....so a little aprehensive.

As far as taking it back to the guy who did the work.....he is not there anymore  Not surprising. I am a little worried now what will happen when I pop the front of my engine open :|

Thanks again guys.....this is a lot better then eating a useless shop bill for info

They should still be held liable for the work that was preformed at there shop. Never hurts to try. Only thing they can say is, NO. In that case you are still in the same boat as now.

You will need a valve spring compressor to get the valves spring off. Then you can change the seals. Here are a few good places to check out.

The first and middle are great sites that show you how to do all kinds of cool shit.

I have the same problem and when it starts to smoke if i rev it up smoke comes out of the engine bay. I know i hav ean exhaust leak but it seems to even come out of the back of the block . Once again it only does it after idling for a bit then goes away when i drive it araound. I am not loosing coolant though. The above link(http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/sea...?searchid=51412) shows no results when i click on it. Any help please.
