So my car is not in the greatest shape by any means. But I had to go and pick up a friend about 75-80 away one way. The car made it there fine, shaking alittle at 75-80mph. On the way back we stopped at a fast food place, while waiting inline just after getting off the interstate I started seeing a stream of smoke or steam going by the passanger side window. I move the mirror down to check if its my car, and damn it was. The smoke/steam was comming from the right rear tire area. There was none on the driver side, and there was no wind. It did not smell anything like brakes, oil, gas, etc. After about 10min it stopped. On the way home nothing seemed different. Also, after about 45 more miles at 75-80mph, we stopped at a gas station and felt the rim, it was cold, and no smoke or noise.

Can a wheel bearing do that? We are in FL so it is very humid, so maybe condensation?

Top was up and the 'A/C' was on, for the fan to run. But I don't have the A/C belt on/it does not work anyways.

Thats what I thought, but brakes smell, this didn't.

I would take the wheel off just to do a visual inspection of the area just to see if E brake might have been dragging or sticky caliper piston due to the humidity. Could even be a small brake fluid leak. While its off spin the hub to see if it spins smoothly.

I'll try it this weekend. Its parked till I figure it out.

Update. Checked the caliper, fine; wheel bearing, fine; parking brake, no pad left (on both sides), so I'm going with fine; but the car just stalled out while shifting into 5th today...I have no idea why, no cel or anything. Just gracefully stalled @ 70mph. My bov is vented...

don't vent. this can cause stalling between gears. specially if you shift a bit slow. the car may seem to run perfect then bam, stall. it is also running rich between shifts. you will have a nice black soot mark on the tail end of your car :)

My car is not vented and it does not smoke at all. This is why its weird.
