I think that its a rip off for 350+ shipping. You can prob find a used magnus for around that. It kinda looks like they just made it to look like a magnus - the velosity stacks. Also magnus took hours of testing to get maximum airflow, i am sure this didn't go through alot of testing and beta run's before marketing. Save your money and buy a magnus or an upgrade that will auctally benifit you.:rocks: :rocks:

i ordered one, it cracked along one of the bends after 500 miles. Emailed them and they said it was because i didn't have flex couplers and because i didn't have motor mount inserts.

Wouldn't cover the crack ### there is no warranty, but for around 90 bucks they will repair it for me. Mine cracked on the bottom of the plenum where JMF is welded.

If i had to do it again i'd go JMF or Hawver from punishment.

Its a good piece and honestly if they welded it on the bottom of the plenum i don't think i woulda had any issues, but maybe thats how they keep the cost down.

Good info, looks like I'm going with a jmf

looks exactly like a JMF SMIM. I wouldn't trust it, especially when people are selling their JMF's for 400-450.

A new JM fab is $450 new and a used one is around $400 and if you got on the JNZ group by they where $385. I'm not sure why anyone woul dby that ebay onr when the JM Fab is about the same price and has proven to go 9's.

Edit: I paid $450 shipped for my JM Fab and it was the race one and polished.

I have a buddy (the_jester) who has blown a jmfab manifold at 20 psi this season. not even 25 psi. They at least replaced the manifold for free. Nothing against jmfab. It happens to ANY! aluminum smim. I've heard of it happening to ALL!, except for the steel dejon tool smim.

Considering the replacement was not done for free for the blown welds, I wouldn't do business w/ them. But other than that. The velocity stacks are shaped well. The length and width of the runners are correct for mid and upper rpms (for turbocharger setups). The plenum is designed correctly (volume and shape).

Could you send me your friend's name?

I ask because JMF has never recieved a manifold that was "blown apart". There was one manifold that had a pin-hole in the one weld (dirt in a tiny spot), and a couple that were produced well over a year ago that came back with small hairline cracks from before Jim planed off all of the flange surfaces to alleviate this issue. These cracks were at the bottom where the runner meets, due to the flange warping very slightly during welding. As I stated though, this was well over a year ago that this issue was corrected by planing the gasket surface post-production.

None have ever been replaced, nor returned "blown apart". Just the instances I listed above.

Wow, looks identical to a JMfab, asside from the crappy volosity stacks.. Save up the extra 50$ and real one..

Indeed. It's funny how he "compares them to every other manifold" except for the JMF version that he blatantly (and poorly) copied.

Jim e-mailed him a couple of times about him copying his manifold in such a blatant fashion, but of course, he never responds.

^^^^^^^^see this customer service makes the extra few dollars so worth it.

His screen name here is the_jester. . . Am I wrong? I havn't talked to him since then. I never saw the manifold. . . He did infact have a blown smim manifold weld because I remember the down time. I'll pm his name. I really could be wrong about the brand. I thought he bought a few things from you: spark plug cover, etc. I'm not knocking your product. Hell I plan on purchasing your SMIM by the end of the summer. I emailed you asking about adding fuel injector bungs after i purchase it and run it a while.

I just wanted to get to the bottom of it, as Jim is pretty proud of the fact that he hasn't had a blown one.

No harm, no foul. ;-)

As far as the injector bungs, they can be added anytime you like.

Thanks!

Josh

Just talked to the_jester. It is a magnus smim. I'm totally wrong about the brand. . . People please don't spread any false hearsay on my account. I just talked to Josh via pm. Considering the finished product testing they do, it's likely *they* would blow any faulty manifold during the test before you or I would get it. I would really recommend a company that delivers customer service and QC like this. Chose a reputable company that has a name to live up to considering the price differences here. This was the point I was *trying* to get across. There's no sence in getting an ebay piece here because such a better (and supporting) vendor has a *proven* SMIM for not much more. It's not like an ebay intercooler.

Funny thing is the_jester is selling his 97 w/ the 18g, big fmic, magnus smim, and tubular header, maft w/ 650s, walbro 255hp, ACT streetlite fw, sb 3500 clutch kit, and a 6-bolt swap w/ good compression all for $3500. He accepted a much lower offer. And the guy didn't show:confused: . I think the smim popping was the last straw for him. He is "tired of it breaking all the time." Point? Even if you get the "right" parts, you can get frustrated. So don't ask for it by cheaping out when you don't have to, just to save 10% on an important piece that obviously isn't fool proof to produce.

I was about to say I have never heard on a JM SMIM blowing and they have even stated that on dsmtalk but I see they came on here and said the same thing. The funny part was I was going to say pm your friend again it was probably a Magnus that blew and sure enough it was.

My JMF intake has withstood a meth backfire of over 60 psi (pegged reading). It did swell a bit but did not split or crack. I'm still using it with no issues (it may even be an improvement with the greater volume of the swelled plenum LOL. It was an old version of the intake, too; one of the first.
