My DSM has been sitting for 2 years and for the life of me I cannot find any of my old DSMlink logs.
Here is how the setup currently is:
Built 2g head, ported and with BC 272's
Venom SMIM Intake Manifold
TD06 20g, external gate
Stock bottom end.
I'm working on a forged 6bolt short-block and getting k272 cams. Is my SMIM worth it for this setup? The venom has a big plenum and is designed for high RPM use. If my memory is correct, I was getting 45lbs/min of airflow at about 25psi. I am hoping that the k272 cams will provide a bit more top end power, BUT will I benefit even more with say... an Evo III intake manifold? I've been searching around and it seems that this topic has never seriously been discussed with this size turbo. Some say a SMIM is not worth it and some say it is. What are your thoughts? If you have a similar size turbo and added a SMIM, how did your car react?
I'm not too worried about midrange power. I mean, I don't want a turd, but this car is not my daily driver and I am willing to give up some midrange power to benefit on the topend.
