Im in the process of a clutch replacement for the first time on my 90' gst and i got the new clutch, OEM throwout bearing, new pressure plate, and i took off my flywheel yesterday to have it resurfaced. my question is, should i have marked the flywheel's position before taking it off? I didnt even think about it till it was too late and now im a little worried about putting it back together. With all new parts will it even matter? If it does matter what should I do?

The crank has a dowel pin that goes in a hole on the flywheel. That way you can only install it ONE way! Just make sure you line up the dowel and you'll be fine. :thumb:

Oh, DUH! I didnt notice that. I get my flywheel back tonight and will install tomorrow. thanks for the help, and sorry for such a newbie question.

For those that are missing the dowel, or who have one that had already been put on out of position and have no sign of a dowel, the answer is "yes" because at one time or another, the crank and flywheel should have been balanced as a unit. Resurfacing the flywheel shouldn't affect its dynamic balance, as all the material is being removed from near the hub, and away from the flywheel's balancing areas on the edge.
