Face it guys, our 1g DSM's are lacking on the shifting side! My shifts grind occasionally and are really hard to put in gear? What have u guys done to smooth everything out thanks alot i want lots of feedback! :dsm:

....i learned how to drive stick when i was like 14, so i have no problem whatsoever shfting a car, let alone a dsm :dsm:

Simple! I had my tranny rebuilt! :-\

-It cost more than what I paid for the car, but the result is awesome! (I highly recommend the GVR-4 1st gear!) :thumb:

I bought a tranny from a '93 with low miles and loved it :D

(till it got totalled  )

Before that I double-clutched 2nd, only gear I had a problem with.

I would first suggest changing the tranny fluid. My friend's 1g laser was grinding when you put it into 3rd, no matter how you shifted.(IE: 2nd-3rd, 4th-3rd) I changed the tranny fluid and after about 10 miles it shifts like new again. No more grinding or problems. I have used Synchromesh in mine(1g Eclipse) and his car, although next time I might switch to Ams-oil, since my neighbor sells it and I keep using his lift(makes any job easier...heh), so I figure I should support him :D And the product is supposed to eliminate hard shifting when its cold out.

Try changing fluid that may help, btu a rebuild is the best thing. They can be a bit expensive but I wouldnt do it any other way. I just got my tranny back from Shep a few months ago and the car is totally different. It is actually fun to drive now.

Change the tranny fluid like said above. You will most likely notice a huge improvement.

If that doesn't fix it to your liking, get it rebuilt. Do a search to find out about each company. From reading about people's experiences, I would personally go with a Shep Tranny with as many options as you can afford.

Yeh, Shep's boxes are the cat's meow, the ant's pants and the bee's knees.

But in case you aren't made of money, adjust your cables, shim the shifter mount in the cockpit, replace the rubber bushings on the cable ends, shift so that the box has a chance to shift -not too rough, not too hard (it ain't a damned Chevy), and pour in this stuff:

Lucas ps fluid fixed my ps leak, Lucas sythetic oil additive help the ticking and the Lucas fuel cleaner works (I think). I've not have the chance (or guts) to try their trany additive yet cause I only have 45k on the trany. Maybe you can try it and let us all know how it is. ;) It's suppose to fix grinds.
