Shifter broke apart

Unsure what the silver C clip is called that holds the Rod that connects to the shifter. But it popped off and it came apart during shifting. Unsure if there is a better way of keeping it together or if i have to get a new clip thing. If so where do i get one and what is it actually called? Thanks.

Are you using an aftermarket shorter or a stock one? The stock one only has washers and nuts to secure it.

Its an after market short shifter

Got a picture of your set up you can post? Most likely its just a normal c-clip.

Is the rod you mentioned in your first post the one that the shifter lever pivots on then? If so, was the clip on the very end to hold the shifter from sliding off? In the diagram, the location I'm referring to is secured by a nut. The only c-clip secures the actual shifter cables.

Yea that C-clip keeps popping out every 3 months or so.

All I can really say is find a better c-clip, or if its feasible, thread it and use a nut and washer.

If you're talking about the one labeled shift pin, you'll need a new clip.

Hardware stores would be your best bet for a new one.
