Hey guys I'm looking into rebuilding my tranny. I am definately going with Shep. What exactly did you guys have him do on your rebuild and how much did it cost. Did you upgrade shift forks, welded diff, etc... And what type of setup are you running? (mods)

well I know its all there
But there is some differance in what options you will choose depending on how many horsepower etc... you plan on running. Shep quoted me w/welded center diff, and Upgrade 90 model year to double synchro 2nd, for 1500-1700. I was just wondering what other people had done on their rebuilds.

if you daily drive the car, I'd not do the welded center- if you have a lot of power, and are going drag racing, it could work, but a 4 spider might be a better option. Other than that, you need to figure out what your goal is, and then get him to price it for you.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the "loads o' synchro's" options. :D (i just haven't gotten to the point of where the transmission is the next logical piece yet.

Well I told him I planned on running a FP 3052 setup (which is what I'm planning at the moment) A similar car dynoed at 450 hp (a car with a setup similar to what I'm planning). So he suggested the welded center diff and upgraded double syncroed. I'm not doubting his expertise I'm just wondering what other people went with.

With all new forks, gears, etc etc and an LSD, I paid a little over $2000, I don't have an exact number because I just run a tab with the man. One thing to consider is thats a FWD tranny.

I would recommend a wielded center, new forks, 2nd and 3rd upgrade, and any other maintence he sees fit. Don't cheap out on it, it will come back on you. Expect to pay $1300 to 1700 with the tranny being shipped to him, if he does the work (uninstall/install) expect maybe $300 more.

Well not doubting the person above me nor am I doubting shep since I went with him on my tranny before but alot of people that have welded the center diff don't like it on a day to day driver since it's alot harder on those.

That's what ALOT of people has to say about what kinda work shep does. As far as the center diff research is all I'm going to say...

I'm just simply posting this information to prove to you that research is key on this forum being as 99% of all things have been posted and researched here before and it's quite easy to find anything you need to on the forums.

I paid 1200 to shep for a good 2-3 gears and the normal rebuild, I didn't regret a single bit of it either once I finally drove the car.

Thank you
John

I paid 2550 for everything. The only upgrade other than his regular race tranny rebuild was the 4 spider gear option w/torrington bearing. It took about 2-3 weeks total from shipping out to receiving it. My car is not running yet, it's at the mechanic's shop so I can't give any feedback.

I spent just over $2200 and well my trans was pretty much shot. I needed a lot of replacement parts, he gave me a run down of what was bad and I basically told him I only plan on rebuilding once. So I receieved pretty much every upgrade on his site and choose to go with a 4 gear spider. Going with a welded one didn't seem like a good option for daily driving. I actually drove my tranny out to him and got to talk with him for a while. Pretty cool guy and was pretty helpfull in letting me know whats up. I'm happy with the tranny, I beat on my car and have yet to grind or miss getting it in any gear.
