here is a couple pics of my shaved valve cover in primer what do you think? im gonna paint it to match my intake "pontiac blue"

looks real good :thumb: I just shaved my 1g intake manifold and valve cover yesterday. I cant wait to finish polishing it and get it all bolted back on. What kind of paint and primer are you using?? Make sure you post pictures when you put them back on.

thanks :hellyeah: i used a ppg"pretty sure" primer sealer and some high heat dupli-color paint and then some clear coat"on intake" so it doesnt just look good for a day for me im going to paint the valve cover in the morning ill post some pics the shaved and polished look is great :thumb: but wont work in a pa winter :nono: so i had to paint

NY winters are just as bad. Im not painting them because it will disperse heat better. Im also gonna use a heat barrier gasket for the intake manifold. Might be overkill but I want the intake as cool as it can be. How long until you get it all together so I know when to check for pics?

hopefully next week:pray:...if i have all of my parts arrive on time but i should have it painted by tomorrow then i have to paint my head and make a fiav block-off plate

WOW - that looks killer! Good job on that!

Noob question - what do you use the shave it?

thank you :thumb: i shaved down the valve cover with my 4 1/2 inch angle grinder to get most of the letters and then smooth it out with some 80 grit sandpaper and some 120"i think" grit to get it nice and smooth :rock
