hey guys i just did a 6 bolt swap and have all the supporting mods. im getting multiple misfire codes and misfires between 2200-3400. i know its because i need to set the timing advance 3-5 degrees. but i need a little more info on how to. say we are facn da cam angle sensor. there are two nuts dat are tighten it down. which way do i turn and how much. do i have to pull the cam angle sensor and flip it around. i have a coil on plug setup how do i use the timing gun with this. i want my car to run nice.

This is a forum for serious high level technical discussions. The assumption is of intelligent thoughtful discussions. Please use proper punctuation and grammar. I don't care if you 'always type like that' or if you thinking I am being a jerk. If your post, no matter how technical it is, reads like a writing of a 4th grader, it will be moved, closed, or deleted, period. Take it into account when you make your post that a huge pet peeve of most of the wisemen is trying to read a badly written post and most of them will not even respond to them. If you feel insulted, then you know how the Wisemen feel when you insult us with crap disguised as your post.

sorry, but i still need to know how to use timing gun with the coil on plug setup.

I would imagine you would just connect the clamp to the 1&4 trigger wire for the COP setup.

You have a 6 bolt in a 2G. Your misfires are because of the simulated crank sensor not being what the ECU expects it to be. Inverting the CAS signal has NOTHING to do with "pull the cam angle sensor and flip it around". In order to invert the CAS, you have to invert the signal going to the ECU, not the sensor itself. Even if you do invert the CAS signal going to the ECU, you will still get misfire codes. You will, however, have easier cold starts and get rid of that lumpy feeling around 3,500 RPM.

Get DSMLink, and this will all go away. You can invert the CAS and stop the misfire codes (as well as the 'running on two cylinders feeling') with two simple clicks of a mouse.

Your base timing should be set regardless, and the car should not be driven until it is set properly. Try using the signal wire going to plug #1, or the plug closest to the timing belt, that might work. If not, you can always swap your stock coil back on temporarily to get the timing set properly.

Matt.
