I have had an on going problem for a couple months. An awkward problem where im stumped.

The car will not shift into 1st gear at all unless I am stopped or coming to a stop at +/-15 or 20mph. To me sounds like a synchro. And when the transmission itself is cold, it shifts like butter. 100ft down the road and 2nd gear becomes intermittantly sticky. As it warms up some more, 3rd and 5th gears become sticky as well and it grinds badly into second gear until the rpms drop back down to around the range where it will manually synchronize itself. Also this problem gets worse the faster I run though the gears. With the clutch disengaged and the pedal to the floor, when the rpms are 5500-6000+ the pedal seems to sink further to the floor. Thus slightly engaging the clutch to the flywheel (some how).

First had it in a shop and had 4th gear and the shift fork replaced. They said they looked it over front to back in and out and there was nothing else that could possibly be a problem any time soon. To attest for it they threw in a warranty. But refuse to follow through with it.

It worked fine for about 2 weeks and a new problem came up. Took it back to them and they said no you have to pay for us to look at it. Im positive its nothing related to what I did. Told me it was air, then another bad master cylinder, then bad pressure plate, etc etc. Anything but the internals (which is what the warranty covered... suprise). So far I have personally replaced the master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, shift fork, and fulcrum. Everything is to the book, all fluids are fresh and at their correct levels. And its still having the same problem.

Do i need to pull the tranny, once again, and split the case for myself? Help please.

First of all there is no need, nor is it good, to be downshifting into 1st whilst going any faster than like 4 mph. How high did your rpm's shoot up downshifting into 1st at 20 mph?

Well yes I understand that. Im saying clutch still disengaged coming to a stopsign or stop light etc, not actually downshifting for a turn or something. So i have no idea how the rpms jump. But just getting the shifter to go into gear it grinds like a bat outta hell when still moving.

But 1st is the least of my concern because like you said, no need to downshift. I just have to be patient with sticking it into gear.

2nd gear etc. is what Im mostly concerned with.
