Sensor, timing, or air leak

Hello to everyone out there in the dsm community.

I have been driving this 1g dsm for a few years and it always had the problem of idle surge which rencently i tested my isc and it was shot bought a new isc and replaced and the idle surging went away for now but the other problem its been having that on a cold startup i have to let the engine crank over atleas for 15 to 20 secs befotr it start and after it warms up then it starts up just fine, the other thing is while its idling and putting it in gear to drive off when i give it gas the rpm drop from 750+ to below 350 and it does die for a 1 sec then it catches an recovers back to its normal rpm 1k + just want some ideas on what could be the problem the CEL has been on since i got it but that for the egr but i just pulled the engine code and pulls a 21 i do have then new cts and for the hell of it im swaping out the gauge sending sensor and the thermostat 180 deg vs the 192 thats in there right now. The battery and alternator and starter were tested and checks out good. Asking those dsm savy people out what else to check for. Its a 1g 4g63 2.0 non turbo. Thanks for the help in advanced. Also engine is bone stock just trying to fix this issue its getting on my last nerve

It could be a problem with the idle valve in the throttle body where the coolant passes through, that is common. You could also have leaking throttle body shaft seals which can mess with your idle as well. Also I would check for proper Tps adjustment. Hope that helps.

Dont think its the tps i never touched that at all so its still in factory location and for the idle valve that would be the fast idle air valve your referring too? But honestly its not an idle issue its when i give it gas the idle drops to almost stalling and some times it will stall other times i have to baby the throttle and ease it gas and it works just fine but if u hit the floor with it all of a sudden then he rpm drops and then about a sec later the rpms come back up as normal. After removing the IM studs for the tb since i dont have the lift bracket and using some bolts and tighten em down enough i dont hear any hissing from it but this just started happening like a few days after i had it sitfor about 2 months due to non car related issues. In a few days ima be swapping out the cts to see if itll start up like it normallu use to instead of holding down ignition for a good 30 secs before it starts but when warm fires up no problem

Ive been looking around on the fourms and vfaq on how to do a leak test to see where are my air leaks if any but everything i found is all related to a turbo dsm and not a non turbo, any one know if u can still do the test for a turbo dsm on a non turbo, or are there any other methods of finding air leaks without having to smoke the engine ?

Question to those out there, ive been reading throughout thr forms and would like to know if any one knows whats the correct resistance i should be looking for on the cts ive read for non turbos its 10k max and manual states 2200 to 2500 currently right now i havent pulled out the sensor yet but in the morning i checked it bone cold out here like 50 degrees out and sensor reads at 1600 does a bad cts promote hard cold start ups other could it be something else? Thanks for the help in advance

Just checked that cts again this morning and bone cold is pulled a resistans of 3300 and fully warmed up its pulling 190 ohms are these values even correct i also rePlaced and soldered those contact terminals for some new so im Pretty sure its not the wire and also the wire to ecu and pull 65 ohm just throwing that out there
