ok my engine is seized up and wont turn over or anything found metal shavings in the oil and im in the process of tearing it down to see how bad it really is. what would be the best bet just look for another engine for my car or rebuild this engine ? car is a 90 tsi awd. thanks for the advice in advance.

Roy

If you rebuild it yourself then that would be the cheapest route, but otherwise you can pick up a JDM 6bolt for around $1000 I think.

I have seen some of my friends go with built motors or just a nicely rebuilt one and they have all had problmes here or there. If it were me I would just go get a JDM motor and slap it in. Now before anyone go off and says that they have had great sucsess with a rebuild I am just saying this from the 3 people that i have know that went this route. Its up to you but you wanted opinions and this is mine.

If you know what you are doing rebuild would be best, getting a JDM Motor you really don't know what you are getting in terms of condition.

thanks for the advice guys, basically what my wallet will allow is around 1000-1500 im taking a 5000 dollar loan out in a few months and im gonna use 3500-4000 to get a motorcycle and then the rest is for gettin the car back on the road, trust me i appreciate any and all opinions

didnt have oil in it , apparently the guy i got the car from didnt tell me how bad it burned oil it was partially my fault but i didnt think it would go through so much in a matter of a few days. so ive learned to take better care of my stuff now sucks had to learn that way

if it burned oil THAT badly, the engine was cooked when you bought it sorry to tell you, unless you intentionally bought a piece of crap engine.
should have done a compression test

yea thats what i figured , but that just leads me to where i am today and i guess once i finish pullin the motor apart to see what it looks like then i really have my answer im assuming unless theres so miracle it actually salvagable
