Second gear feels like tar after bushings/short shifter

I've been having an issue where second gear just isn't very easy to shift into when I go to the drag strip ever since I installed brass cable bushings and a megan racing short shifter. It doesn't grind in any gears and shifts through all the gears smoothly, but second gear feels like it is going through tar when you shift it. I don't think I damaged the shift cables at all when I did the install because of how easy every other gear shifts. I have had them on for about a hundred miles, do I still need them to break in?
