Ok fellas, im diagnosing my non-working seat belts today, and found out some info. Ill start off by first saying, when I bought the car the power seat belts didnt work. I checked the fuses and relays and all that stuff, and everything is working, Yet the seat belts wont go back and forth with the door opening and closing. So I decided to pull back the rear panel and test the voltage going to the motor. I found on both sides the connector was disconnected from the motor. HMMMMM

Anyway, When I plugged them back in and turn the key on, I hear the motor turning, but the seat belts wont go anywhere. The seat belt light on the dash is now flashing. So I tried to manually move the seat belt and it moves freely back and forth. So obviously its off its track or something..

My question is, has anyone had this problem? Can I just pull the whole assembly out and re-align the seat belt connector back on track, or will I need new ones?

ehhh. Its semi important to me. Im trying to get the car working like it was on the showroom floor. I guess you could say its like a restoration. This is just my next concern.

I pulled the whole motor assembly out and its broken, im not exactly sure how to explain it, but I guess the gear part is stripped out/broken off. Now, im looking into the canadian seat belts. If there cheaper than finding 2 whole new seat belt motor assemblies, ill go that route.

Oh sorry, I guess I was being a little sarcastic. I figured if it doesn't work, you fly through the windshield and die. So obviously you want to replace the whole assembly. They aren't really servicable, other than to replace the whole unit. I would imagine you could just buy used ones that work properly, or you could try the Canadian ones (non-motorized I assume) if you're looking to get new stuff for any less than an arm and a leg. But wouldn't you also need different A and B pillar mouldings too then?

Yes, you would. I found a canadian DSM forum searching through google, so I may just hunt down the CDM seat belts along with the A and B pillar mouldings. IDK, Ill know later today after I call around to some junkyards and get prices for the stock ones.
