Ok my 2600 started slipping on launches and it needs to be replaced (not bad it held up 2 yrs and about 300 launches) and i have been reading all day and im still torn on which clutch to get between these too. I like the fact that the SBR clutch has kevlar woven into the disc for improved grip when the clutch is hot. I also like the fact that you dont have to break the clutch in. But i do love my 2600 and it is the proven clutch. But which clutch do you think would last longer cause thats a big issue for me.

My mods will probably take a step up in the next few months so 350-400hp is probably on the horizon in the next few months

I know that SBR has made some major improvements to the 3500 recently. I would call them and ask them the same question and find out the nature of those improvements. They may even recommend something with more clamping force considering how much you launched in the last 2 years,

Let us know what you find out,

Andy

I've had both go with act 2600. The 3500 does not like do be slipped hard out of the hole like the 2600. Maybe they changed it maybe not. Go with the 2600 and not worry about it.

i have only used the sbr 3500. i really like the pedal pressure along with very good holding power on launches. maybe you should try out there 4500 clutch disc?

Ive had my SBR 3500 for a while now. I believe I purchased it shortly after it was released, so Im not sure what "improvements" have been made since then. Never launched. Ever since it was installed, I've had a lot of grinding/chattering noise on decel while in gear (known to some as the 'wub wubs'). Ive given up on trying to not have it engage off the floor. I went with the 3500 because this was around the time that a lot of people were blowing springs on their ACTs. Maybe the 3500 is better now, but I wish I had gone with a 2600.

I ordered 2600 first for my 92 talon with 50 trim.Never installed it sold car. Was going to install it in my 97 but that was also about time bunch of dud 2600 discs were happening.
I ordered sbr 3500 setup. Then never installed it as went up on power to FP3065 and 2.4
So fairly recently assume it would be newer disc got 4000 disc.
I have it in my car for only 400 miles. So far so good.Pedal pressure was super light it seemed on initial driving then got heavier as put some miles on it. Now its pretty heavy but have never drove a 2600. Its livable. The 3500 and 4000 use same pressure plate.
The 4000 disc had some chatter ,at very first it had none, then it had quite a bit now it seems to have nearly none and maybe after a few more miles it will have zero.
It might be a better choice the 4000 disc it seems very streetable and guys I know have run this with success and hard I might add.
I will likely try act 2900 or 3200 or something next time around.
Wish could give a bit longer report.
Installation is criitcal on clutches. My new act flywheel came covered in oil.Take that off with brake cleaner! I also torqued the flywheel and pressure plate to spec, used loctite red actually.Use alignment tool. I also used brand new clutch fork and mits throwout and new pivot ball.
Clutch shifts great no problems at all.I used stainless clutch line and speed bleeder in new slave.Didn't change out master.Car only has like 60000 miles on it.

Anyone else on the 4000 and is the disk a sintered Iron on both sides or 1?

I ended up going with the Slowboy Racing 4000 and as soon as i get it put in i will give my review of it

Anyone know if I can get my unused old style 2600 disk replaced with the new style?

Call up ACT they maybe able to swap it out for you.

I have the older style 3500 with only about 50 or so launches on it so far. Holds up great, and when it gets hot it makes the clutch feel ultra weird but it holds till high hell. Although I only have 300-350 wheel.
