Is kinda right kinda wrong, Miata's may be slow in stock form, but add some boost and they fly, and they are one of the best handling cars of all time.

Should know I wasn't shooting down Miatas. They have their place and there's a reason that 80% of the cars at an SCCA autocross are Miatas. They just aren't built to go fast in a straight line. They were based off the old British roadsters, which all stood at the top in terms of handling.

I'm partial to 1st gen MR2s which handle better than Miatas IMO given their rear engine/rear drive layout :)

Should know the engine in the miata, the BP-ZE, is one of the best motors I have ever came across to owning in my life.

Bulletproof.
Non-interference
7200 Rpm redline
1.8L@ 127-135hp.
Nice slant in a FWD.

Could overheat and never blow, literally got redlined daily.

They are very very stout engines.

I've owned a couple with 250k on the odometer, tore apart the engine, to be still in perfect condtion internally.

They also have like no lower reinforcement like are motors. They did make a GTX turbo 210hp version in j-pan.
Got to love it.
Owned about 5 Escort GT's....

abused his Miata :p

Should know I never made mention of reliability in relation to Miatas and MR2s

My family has owned multiple examples of both cars, and we prefer MR2s. The Toyota engine is similarly bulletproof btw :)

Should know as far as looks, I would drive the MR2.

Miata vs Escort looks, Id pick Escort, just for the WTF look on peoples faces....... 127hp in a 2100 pound car is might fun.

Should know an older n/a Ford Escort comes out on top at the rallycross races I go to.

I think it's a Mazda B engine. Similar engine as what's in the old 323s and Miatas.

Yea thats the bp-ze. The Escort GT had a sport suspension set up, you could take corners in a residential area at 60 mph...:hellyeah: Yea I have done it... I was 16 so you know how it is. Disk brakes all around. Quite the car for $300,800,400,1000,???? I forget how much they all were.

Has owned a lot of cars

The Escort at the races is a GT with the fuel injected 120hp engine. You wouldn't think it, but that car is a Tasmanian devil LOL

Carlos: The 1st gen MR2s are kind of strange looking by today's standards. They came either supercharged or n/a. The extra power the s/c makes makes that car scoot, but it's that much harder to work on.
The 2nd gen MR2 has some head turner looks and the turbo models are monsters. I, or my dad, have owned all four models at one time or another. They're all kind of challenge to work on (rear engine) and they're kind of expensive to own (not a lot made). Definitely fun cars though.

likes to rally and be beat by an Escort GT :p

is thinking of schemes to steal that Escort so it will be his

Should know I miss my awd turbo'd Mazda 323 GTX. That thing would've destroyed the Escort LOL

The DSMs are still fun though.

Should know Thats like saying a turbo talon with a 2.0L 4g63 could beat a NA talon with a 2.0L 4g63.

should know I would love to have a Mazdaspeed 6.

Should know one of my bestfriends has an RX-7 FD... I told him I would trade him my car, money on top, and sell him my soul.
