Saving a DSM.

The story is I bought a 90 Talon TSi AWD for 500$. It was a block away from the shop. So I couldn't resist. Bought it from some young high school kid who (Now owns a Ricer honda CRX and its trying to tell me its got 300hp NA.) Runs. No T case. Fine with me I have a 90 Eclipse GSX. Thats hit in the right front.
Well I am looking it over changing a few parts here and there. Notice a bolt is loose were the tranny mounts to the Motor. So i tighten that up. I see a couple more and tighten them. So now I'm Unsure wth they did to the poor car.
So last night my dad and some buddies started going throw the whole damn car. Well I have never EVER seen some one manage the things they have done. Front motor mount Completly torn out of the block, Driver side mount is Bad. Intake manifold brace hanging by one bolt. Fuel rail Has one bolt holding it on The rest are broke from over tighting. Turbo is bad. Oh and All four corners have different tires. And its this nasty green and black<-- just like that green)
So This weekend it starts. I am planing on Replacing the motor and Transmissions. Clutch. I am also gonna paint it what I believe is the Stock Maroon color.
Also When i drive the car to the back of the shop its has this Violent Shake. I'm talking the whole car. I have Tightened alot of bolts all the mounts. Changed all four tires to better ones. Idk maybe it will go away after I put the other motor in

Wait it has no transfer case and you are driving it?

No it does Put it in the day after i got it. i towed it To the shop but it was only like 20 to tow it.

Good luck with it, man. I did the same thing two years ago: bought a non-runner 91 TSI for $700 and been working to get it up to a mean street machine since then. I've had a LOT of setbacks and frustrating days with this car, but I don't think I'd trade it for anything else; at least until I'm tied down or something like that!

Sounds like the 1g Talon me and my friend are saving.

We got it and tailored it home cranked it one time to listen to it. Ran it about 10 seconds before shutting it off.

We start pulling the engine out of it, 3 bolts holding a shiny ebay tube style turbo mani on. 1 bolt holding a throttle body on. lots of bolts just completely missing. All the engine mounts where bad.

Finally get the motor apart and there is no oil pump in the bi***.

Well I got all that done. Sorry it took so long for a reply Been on vacation and were super busy at the shop. But I have been driving it now (should have bought one sooner!!!!) I replaced the BOV with the stock one seems to run a lot better. Today I hopefully will get a aftermarket boost gauge and put in a 3" GM maf with my MAF-T. Found out that the shake was from the driver side CV axle........58$ later all better. Haven't painted it yet So if your in CO and see a Bright green TURD that would be me .
Now after I have been driving it I can see why people like to mod them. Out of the 5 cars I own I drive this everyday and I don't see that stopping. Need to sell the CRX. Need money for mods!!

Yea I just don't get some people. Why would you mess up a very fun, nice driving car? Makes no sense in anyway.

I just bought a 93 TSI from a couple of guys who "fix up" dsm's. I bought it a few months ago and it seems like every time I open up the hood I find something they complety effed up! For example, the BISS and the idle switch were completely missing, hoses were left unbracketed, and they sealed the TB with HOT GLUE!!! Haha, maybe we bought from the same kids

Yea I feel ya man. You get to drive yours yet??? If you have you know you cant turn away from it. even though everything is F'd. Thats how I am now . Some things keep given me Sh!t its like F work start working on the Talon .
Now I just gotta get the tranny in the honda so I can get my lift spot back. we probably did cause this kid said the same thing. "i used to build them but hondas are better"......

Exactly what happened to mine unfortunately. And being a newbie to all this....yea. Imagine the fun. But it's ok, because, along with 99% of DSM'ers out there, would rather have it crushed than sell it or part with it. Damn things like an orphaned puppy. Even though it pisses all over your stuff, you can't get rid of it.
