I went today to pick up a 93 eagle talon. Car wont run, guy claimed it was the coil. From what he explained, sounded like bent valves to me. He said the bottom end had been redone, the head ported, polished and shaved to tha max, and that the intake had been polished up. I get there, The body and interior are great looking, and it even has a sun roof. I look in the engine bay. He had half assed a couple of things. Vacuum hoses mainly. He blocked off alot of hoses. Is this ok? Mainly the hoses on the throttle body, water outlet, and the brake booster. He had also taken the hose off the stock wastegate, said it made it louder, obviously not a smart move. The timing belt was rough looking without a cover or anything. I could see the pulley's were rough looking. I bought the car anyways despite all these problems. I got it home, and within a few hours me and my dad got the head pulled off, needless to say, no porting or polishing on head or intake. The head was shaved, but it was shaved so far down that the valves that werent bent even stuck out, although quite a few were bent. I couldnt believe this. It did come with another head that is useable that has some bent valves. I could tell that his problem was he looked at the page in the book showing how to time pre 93 models. Bottom end looked pretty good, oil was really clean. I hate that I have to work on this car, but I have the money and motive, if this guy had it any longer, it would be toast, and another good looking dsm would be wasted. The turbo says TD05H. What turbo is this? 14b or 16g? Should have it running within a few weeks. I will take pics before and after.
