I'm in the process of repairing my cf hood, I Da'd the whole hood with some 180 to get all the cracks out as best as i could. Then layed some coats of resin on it. I'm thinking of now blocking the whole hood with 180 untill the hood is level. Then wet sanding it /buffing it.

I wanted to know if anyone had any better idea's or if i was possibly doing something wrong and what i should do insted. Thanks.

If its cleared correctly, you wont need to block it. Im assuming the hood is still in 180, Id DA it to 320 to get the 180 scratches out, then clear it. After that, if anything, just hit it with some 600, then some 1000, and buff it. Should come out great...I had to do the same thing to my carbon fiber hood on my GS when I had it, came out looking BRAND NEW.

Putting resin over the sanded hood was a bad idea. I imagine the surface of the hood is quite uneven now. At this point I would sand all the resin off with 180 and then do what illeclipse said. However, I recommend refining the scratches quite a bit more than 320 before clearing. It depends slightly on the brand of clear you use, but I would prep the hood out in 500-600 before clearing.

Hm well i'm gonna even it out with 180, becuase it is uneven. I don't wanna remove all the resin, the point of covering the whole hood with resin was so i can paint the hood and not have to worry about the cracks coming threw the paint. I'm gonna buff the hood good though becuase i plan on doing a paint skeme thats involves having some of the cf show threw the paint.

But if i'm wasting my time, tell me and let me know how to start over. I'm probably gonna block the hood tommaro to see how it evens out, I put about 3 layers of resin on so i could even it out without sanding threw.
