Can a rod that has been blackened by heat after a spun rod bearing be reconditioned and used again?

A rod that has been thew a spun bearing is in my opinoin junk. The rod got so hot and lost considerable strength. I would replace it with out question.

This is sound advice... Get another rod... I personally will never use a rod that spun a bearing again in a High Performance engine... Most people won't re-use a block that crank walked so why re-use a rod that spun a bearing?? Rods are cheaper than a blocks are...

Thanks, I was just wondering because I have 2 sets of big rods hanging out in my garage and one spun a bearing.
