Hey guys, so I tried to do this last november with no luck. We'll try again....

Seeing as I have never met any fellow DSMers in the area, I'd like for all of us to have the chance to get together, maybe grab some food and shoot up the canyon for a nice cruise. I'm thinking maybe mid september sometime to give everyone a chance to mark it on the calendar. Maybe the weekend of the 19th?

Let me know if you're interested. If this thread gets enough replies will set a time and a meeting place.

We'll be meeting at the Flying J off the 21st street exit then going to Lorin Farr park in Ogden. Everyone should come out and support the Utah DSM scene!

It's all automated. The admins have nothing to do with the emails. Try again, if it doesn't work let me know. I can approve the account manually.

Hopefully the people on that local forum will participate here as well so that all SLC/Utah DSMers can get the most out of their local community. We'll be adding more tools for you guys to organize local information here very soon in our regional forums.

I'm new to the board but I would love to come to the meet in Ogden and get to know fellow DSMers. I bought a 95 tsi about 4 months ago and have alot of questions. I've owned 2 other DSM's but they weren't turboed. Anyway it's nice to be here, hope to see you guys at the Ogden meet. :hellyeah:
 
I think its gonna be pretty difficult to get all the people from utdsm.org over here. Its a pretty small forum but its set up very well and i dont think many are going to want to make the switch.

There's a few of us on here already though Joel. But I think this will help keep the local scene more active and aware. Most new people only hear about utdsm from someone they know who's already on the forum.

Everyone knows about Tuners LOL

Exactly. And I don't think people over there have to make a "switch", it just makes sense to be active in both places, since we get most of the new DSMers coming through here and have the largest archive of DSM tech information available on the web - why wouldn't they want to be involved here as well?

If I were them, I'd want to meet other DSMers in their region through these forums as well... but then again, maybe people aren't in those forums to meet other local DSMers, maybe it's just a close-knit group of friends who'd rather just keep it exclusive, I don't know. Honestly, more and more DSMers seem more content with not collaborating with the rest of us these days. Our community is becoming more and more fragmented with tons of smaller groups who like to keep to themselves instead of mingling with the entire community and sharing information. I'll still keep trying to bring all DSMers together, as futile an effort as that may appear to be.
 
I wouldn't say it's a futile effort. Larger forums tend to be more impersonal, mostly due to how far everyone is. But the local Utah forum is great, everyone is willing to help one another out with their cars and such.

But I came onto this forum to see what the rest of the country was doin too.

Utah DSM is a club that has been around for over a decade, with 9.5 years of that having an online presence, and have hundreds of active local members. Looking at the forum stats I'd say we average 3000+ posts per month of local only, advertisement free socializing.

If people are looking to meet other local DSMers and support their local community, we'd invite you to come "fiddle" around with our separate forum. :cool:

Anyone having registration problems, as stated above Secongendsm can assist you or myself. I don't frequent this board very often, but I believe I am emailed notifications of PMs from here.
 
I know this thread is old but I'm buying a 92 laser and would love to meet some other DSM lovers!
