I just installed my NEW safc II, everything is correct as to two set of directions, the one in the back of the manual and the one on bay area dsms site. Now the green light turns on (on the dial), but nothing else is happening. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or could assist me in any way. Thanx for your help.

Okay, I have knock set and have done the rest of the initial settings. But, the car is idling like shit. Wont hardly idle, any pointers would help tremendously.

What do you mean by "I have knock set"? The SAFC can't read knock in a 2g. What are your current settings? Do you have a logger? It sounds like you have a wiring problem or a setting incorrect. Go here and check your installation

if you havent afjusted any correction values, then you need to set it up: karman, 4 cyl, arrow up for throttle. if you have done that then you either mixed up the two air flow wires(i think one is orange and one is pink), or your connections are bad

also, you have to make sure that the two ground wires (black and brown) are connected in the right order, ie: make sure one is closer to the ecu

This is staight off over prostreets wed site:

You will find that the new AFC has many new features, many new options and tools. First most the new AFC uses a thumbstick in the middle of an operational dial to navigate through its many menus. Depressing this thumbstick at any time will bring up a 4 way option screen CANCEL > Previous > Next > Menu. In most instances a tap left or right on the thumbstick will take you to the previous or next screen easily. Our next segment will go over how to tune your car for knock, how to change to finer resolution in low / high settings, how to set passwords, how to set your warnings, how to use your datafiles and much much more.

In other words, it does read knock (it had it in the installation in the back of the manual for the afc also). I will be back to mess with it later, got to go to work.

Heat shrink and solder is what I used. Im going to mess with this later.

If you look at the next page (Operation and tuning) you will see that they retracted the statement:

After extensive testing and work, we have found that no, the unit will not monitor knock signals from a OBDII vehicle. That aside, we will begin with more information about this unit

There is no product to date, other than DSMLink that will monitor knock on a 2g vehicle.

Gotcha, guess I should just unhook it. With this aside, everything is in and working fine. Thanx for the help guys. I just made one simple error, it wasnt wired for Karman. ANYWAY, LOL, the car will be on the dyno this coming saturday. I will post a vid and dyno sheet SAE CORRECT THAT IS!!!!!!!!!! Thanx again guys. (damn noobs LOL)
