Now that the new apexi safc has came out so has the maft gen II. Both are incredible productions to which the makers have outdone themselves. Now lets get down to buisness. What do you guys think is a better deal and set up. the maft gen II or the safc neo. Fuel trimming goes hand and hand along with the fuel % trimming by a 500rpm band for the most part. The prices are off by only a few dollars and the fact that one system could be better then the other could be worth the money or a waste. What do you guys think on it and what is a better deal and also what would you do.

Both being piggybacks, the more airflow you remove, the higher the timing curve you will be on in the ECU. Both are great products. I ahve ran both (now dsmlink with the maft). the MAFT when used in a blow thru configuration allows you to vent your BOV but causes "off" airlfow readings. There are several threads onthis, I have, using DSMlink, "calibrated" the MAFT using a GM Delphi 3.3 bar sensor.

In your case I would run the SAFC since your a NT and there is no real advantage going the maft route in your case.

Also your "wishlist" in your profile is for the lack of betterwords. Impossible. Think you have a few typos there. IE the walbro 190 is correct. But a T5 turbo and 4450cc injectors?

eldiabloz_13 do you indeed drive a NA 420A eclipse. I searched here and 2gnt, for the phrase gen2 or maft 420a and without the "A". I found a few posts most saying they were selling the NA for a turbo (nt forums). do you know what the airflow and fuel differences are between the turbo and NA 2gs?

edit just checked the fullthrottletech fourms also, no luck there either. Has anyone ever used the Maft with the 420a?

Alrigt well ill fix those mistakes and typo's in my profle. Now i never said this was for my car or NT. I just wanted to see the opinions on what would be a better set up for a car. Also what the pro's and cons are of these 2 units. Yes the wideband 02 can be used on the Maft but how usefull is a wideband. Dosent it just give you a bigger and more useful 02 mapping. Now running a maft on a nt is pointless i know this, Im just saying what would be better. Now chances are im getting 91 tsi awd by the end of the month so since you making you decisions upon what car i have right now what would be good for that car then. It will be bone stock but i would like to get a evo III 16g and a frount mount with suporting mods so what would work better for that then. I would still like to hear the opinions on the first part of this but as well the 2nd.

IF it were me getting a 91 AWD, I would stick with a 2g mas, and then find a eprom and run dsmlink. Again thats just me. It will cost a pretty penny more, but in the long run will blow either configuration away.

Dont forget on top of the SAFC and or MAFT, you will also need a datalogger with palm, depending on the palm and the program used the price can vary greatly. With the airflow issues I have seen just running the Maft in a blow thru, I know I would hate to go back to adjusting it all without the link. my 50hz slider was off by only 5%, the 150 was off by 12%, and it kept getting worse as the airflow increased. but every car and setup is different, a friends 2g as only off a few point the entire band. This is the reason why they say "with the maft the airflow "lbs/min" will be off and display false numbers".

a 2g MAS with a SAFC/ logger would be a good setup for a mild car. Also the SAFC2 is a little better than the SAFC neo, since the neo only supports 1 map where the SAFC2 supports 2 (pump and race tune). RRE states this here: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclfuel.htm

thanks for clearing up the non 420A setup. without you informing us we would base all info off of the profile vehicle.

No thank you for being so kind about the whole ordeal. Now My best bet would be to run 2g mas and safc2. But what would happen if i got a 3' gm MAS and used then Gen II to run blow through? Would that be possibol or would i still need to spend the 200 on the translator? I only say this because i have a TIAL BOV and love the sound. Plus i baught it for 50 bucks from a friends. So chances are im going to do 2 things(which may sound stupid) one is weld the tial BOV flange to the pipe and run that then i will block off the 1g BOV hole. Then when im done with showing off for the night i will block the TIAL flange and run the 1g BOV again. So i will run rich for a while i know but it will only be for a little. Now i dont want dsmlink. I want to avoid it and still be able to run 300+hp with a evo 3 16g with supporting mods of course. Am i being stupid or just cheap. OHH and i got a 91-94 ep-rom ecu from the junkyard but it came off a N/t car i tihink. Will that affect me if i put that in also. Now do you guys no any places that sell just the 1g data cables. Cause i will be running my logging on a lap top. I hate palms and there short battery use and small screen with that stupid stick to change stuff. A top is more fitting for me.
