Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a SAFC-I (old style) install for a 1g? (I have a 92
GSX.) I've been searching and keep finding links that no longer exist. I'd appreciate any
information anyone can provide. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for taking the time to post that link. I did see this in my search. My question is will this work for the old style SAFC, the one with the knobs, not the blue digital?

The major difference between the two wiring wise is the airflow wire colors changed fron pink to yellow and orange to white since the original SAFC doesn't have two different sets of airflow wiresto use depending on the sensor type. So on ECU pin 10 where you cut the air flow wire the yellow wire from the SAFC would connect to the ECU side and the SAFC white wire would connect to the MAF side.

Then make sure to set the switchs on the back.

Steve

OK, is this the correct color wiring scheme?
Wires from the SAFC:
Yellow wire - connect to the ECU side Air Flow Sensor (MAF) #10
White wire - connect to the MAF side (Blue/Green wire from #10 ECU)
Green wire - connect to the Crank angle Sensor (#21)
Red wire - connect to Power Supply (#107)
Brown wire - connect to Ground (#106) close to the ECU
Black wire - connect to Ground (#6) farther to the ECU than the brown wire

I appreciate the help. Thanks

Ooops! My mistake. You're right, there is no brown wire. I was looking at another diagram and had a mind lapse! So, only the black wire goes to Ground. What about the blue wire?
Where do you connect that? Or do you connect it to anything at all? Thanks.

What blue wire?

I assume you have the unit so you can tell us what wires come out of it, but the manual oldman provided a link to only shows:
red - +12v switched
black - ground
green - RPM
yellow - Air Flow output
white - Air Flow inout.

Steve

So, does this look good? Thanks.

Yellow wire - connect to the ECU side Air Flow Sensor (MAF) #10
White wire - connect to the MAF side (Blue/Green wire from #10 ECU)
Green wire - connect to the Crank angle Sensor (RPM) (#21)
Red wire - connect to Power Supply (#107)
Black wire - connect to Ground (#106)
Blue wire - Don't use

Sounds good to me.

When I do these, I pull the pins that I'm tapping and solder the wire to the pin rather than stripping back the insulation and soldering the two wires together. That way only the Air Flow wire is damaged during the installation.

The procedure for releasing the pins and pulling them is in the tech guides.

Steve

Thanks to all that contributed to helping me out, especially Steve. I appreciate you time and patience. I will give it a go and I'm sure it will be fine. Thanks again.
