So I got some new rotors put on a bit ago...after only a few weeks they are completely rusted and squeak a little bit! Are there any products that I can buy that you would reccommend to use to get the rust off? I really don't want this when i actually get some rims on the car haha

i do drive! haha ive had the rotors for a few months now and it hasnt gone away...its not a big deal or anything its just not the prettiest thing i've seen

Well then take the rotor off, apply rust penetrant and scrub off. Or if you want to get crazy, apply acetone and use a steel wool brush, make sure you dont get to hard core on them though.

On the face of the rotor where the pads actually touch or the other parts of the rotor is it rusting? I mean, like 4BangR-x if you just drive it should rub off the rust very easily on the actual face of the rotor. When my rotors get wet, they will rust a little and might squeak as I'm backing out of the driveway, but that's about it. It goes away after a very short time. What kind of rotors did you get?

I dont even know what kind of rotors they were...I had a mechanic install them a few months ago and I've pretty much learned to only use a mechanic as a last resort from now on...all i know is they were probably cheap and I'm sure he charged me a lot more than what it actually costed...but yeah when i got them a few months ago i was a huuge noob to cars period...i know most of the basics now and have learned a bit since then..a lot thanks to this site I might add :thumb:

the whole thing is rusted

ok well those rotors are most likely Duralast, or some other common cheap ass pile of part that hasnt been treated with any anti-corrosion. If you want you rotors to look clean, buy new ones...or scrub the hell out of them like I said before.

yeah and im not even going to say how much i payed for all that garbage because that's just embarrassing...oh well though thats how every noob starts out though...learn from your dumb mistakes :nono: ...you guys help a lot on these forums though...much appreciated

We've all done it once in a while. So that you feel better, I spent $1700 for a shop to rebuild my head and do my timing belt, 3 months later, the timing belt popped because they didn't tighten the tensioner pulley correctly. You just have to live and learn. As far as your squeaking, you might want to check a few things out, like make sure you have your shims on your pads etc.

Maybe one day, you can be pushing as much power as 4BangR-x is. ROFL
Man, I love that 1 whp and 3 lb./ft. tq idea you came up with.

Its the power of 3s:thumb:

The squeaking is just what brakes do. You probably have metalic pads on some garbage rotors. Its really not a big deal.

I've got Autozone rotors and they're just fine. My buddy had them on his talon as well and they were fine. They rust just like any other rotor I've ever seen. Once it wears down a bit, where's the anti-corrosion coating anyway?

My powerslots have never rusted and they are pushing 3 years of age. I also use Hawk HPS pads, which is an arguably, harsh compound. Which may also have to do with how clean the rotors are...
