I know this is a frequently asked question but I searched it and didnt find anything that can answer what I have to say. My car is super rich, when you get on it the car backfires also friends tell me when I give it about half throttle it black smokes (I kno its unburnt fuel). I've been told it could be an O2 sensor tripping out the ECU or PCM. The car is farely stock performance wise it has an Injen intake, Megan Downpipe, and Thermal Technologies exhaust. Whent he previous owner put on the exhaust he also took the cat out and didn't replace the sensor or anything and I was wondering if this is what could be causing me to run rich. (For future reference it has a Light Show A/F gauge so its useless). Also my check engine light is on because of the O2 sensor.

The only time I notice it backfiring and stuff is when its about 3/4 or more throttle. I have no idea when its smoking because I'm obviously behind the car. Though when I brought the car home my stepdad drove it because at the time I couldn't drive a stick and I noticed that it was black smoking and I'm pretty sure it was only when he was getting on it. Also the code it was throwing was that there was too much airflow coming out of the cat.

I'll get the exact code next time I stop into autozone. It was the sensor that is directly behind the where the Cat should be that was causing the the Check Engine light to come on. I know theres not any boost leaks on the car so I still cant figure out why I'm running so rich. Could it be because of there being no Cat for some reason?

Running pig rich and backfiring under boost are common signs of a boost leak.
If your MBC is connected to the intake manifold instead of the J-pipe, it will make it even worse under boost at part throttle.
